I like the color and lighting in all three shots a lot. On the first photo, I feel like his face is being cut by the strong horizontal line of the rock. The second, which is by far my favorite, is really nice because of the shapes. The climber mimics the shape of the rock in a lot of ways. I suppose my grip with it is that his legs dissapear into the rock. This might not necessarily be such a bad point though, as this too mimics the rock he is on to some extent. The third is my least favorite. The climber appears to be reaching for nothing, or raising his hand like at school. I know he is probably in the midst of a dynamic move, but I can't see that, nor what he is reaching for. There is no connection there. The other problem is that he seems to be reaching right off the edge of the photo. The line of his arm draws my eye out of the photo, making me want to move on.

I like the lighting in the first and third shots. The spots of light adds a nice contrast to an otherwise shaded, flat location. Did you use auxillary lights or were they taken with natural light? Paul

Thanks for the feedback. I used one flash 20 feet to the left of the camera set to 1/4 power.

Very nice! Can you tell me what you used to mount the flash and how you triggered it? Much appreciate the info. Paul

The flash was on its "foot" just setting on the ground. I used a 25ft pc cord I made (see this website for instructions http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/04/lighting-101-build-pro-synch-cord-pt-1.html)

very nice work with the flash, it helps to really illuminate and make your colors pop. i like the slight distortion of the wider angle used for the first shot, and like the bright colors of the first and second. i also like the shape of the climber in the second, but in all three i was left wanting some more of the facial expressions, esp in the first. thanks for sharing!

Remember kids, one photo per topic. Post each the same day or space them out, at the very least there will be more discussion that way.
