In reply to: Those look like the blue shoes that Boreal makes. I tried the T-Rocks on at REI. They look cool. They are made of a different material that is kinda soft feeling like a foam. I'm not sure how tough they would be but they seem to be of very high quality and the material is very comfortable and conforming to the feet compared to the other shoes I tried. I wish I could get them but they're expensive. Nope, thats me in the pic and those are blue Velcro Anasazis.

I believe they're just an older version of the shoe. That reminds me, I was checking out an old Rock and Ice shoe review (from a few years back) and it had a full-page ad for 5.10's "new Anasazi line." The lace-up, the velcro, and the moccasym, which at that time was a white slipper with that same funky decal that the velcroes have. And the velcroes were CHEAP! much less than the ~$140 US they are now...

No, they are the exsactly the same as the Anasazi Velcro (the orange ones) but these are kind of Aqua blue-green. I saw I guy wearing them and i've seen a person wearing them in a picture...so I dont think the guy just dyed them. I want a pair of Anasazi's but I dont like them cuz everyone has them! this would be perfect for me!

They are the old color, like Hillary said. B_g, if you want to be different get a pair of the Five-Ten Steph Forte Zlippers. They are an irridescent gold color and can be bought with matching chalk bag. You can get 'em real cheap right now at the Five-Ten outlet in Redlands, CA. For some reason, they didn't go over big. -Jay

Hey yeah, I've seen them here.... Only one pair though (apparently the only pair here in Oz... or at least one of the only very few pairs here) that a mate's kid got through her sponsorship. Crazy lookin' things... I can see why they didn't really catch on, but that said, this young whipper-snapper has the same size foot as me and she's still growin'.... I've got tabs on snatchin' from 'er when she's grown out of 'em. I love 'em... they suite my style... hehehehe Cheers, Elk

5.10 made a new, stiffer Anasazi laceup. I believe it is called the Anasazi Mesa. It is blue-green. The old laceup is pink, and is my current shoe. The new shoe has been described as being well suited for edging, and good for heavier climbers.

Ya, I've also seen them in red. You could look for them in that colour if you want to be different. There's a reason that everyone has Velcros though. Sharma climbs 15s in them! Joking.

b_g, Yeah, I say go for it! It's easy to dye leather. Just stop by the fabric store/hardware store/Walmart (or whatever the Canadian equivalent of Walmart is) and pick up some RIT dye... actually now that I think about it, leather-specific dye also exists (ask at the store). I think it's great that you want to be different. I have the same feelings - that's why I have started embroidering abstact patterns all over my old 5.10 Diamonds (black is boring anyway!)... I'll send pictures when I finish Oh... and, jt512, do you have anymore info on the Steph shoes? are they 'really cheap' or just 'cheap by 5.10 standards'? Do I have to go to Redlands to get them? Sorry to get slightly of topic... ~Andria

5.10 has add two new shoes the anasazi line for the upcoming season. The Southwest and one called the T-Rocks (I think). Anyway..... these are the anasazi velco and lace up with the new midsole respectivly. The new midsole comes all the way out to the end of the rand. They are supposed to edge very very well and smear just as good as the regular velcro. These are an addition to the line not a replacement to the old velcors/ lace ups. Follow this link to see a pic of the Southwest. http://gallery.consumerreview.com/outdoor/gallery/files/P1010040.asp you can see the thin grey stuff new the bottom of the shoe, thats the midsole. here is a pic of the T-rocks http://gallery.consumerreview.com/outdoor/gallery/files/P1010043.asp and just for fun, they are finally bringing back the guide tennie of old with laces down to the toes http://gallery.consumerreview.com/outdoor/gallery/files/P1010041.asp price on the Southwest is $149 retail and the T-Rocks is $138.00 retail [ This Message was edited by: coconutz on 2002-09-12 18:33 ]

oooh, I get all ~tingly~ at the thought of new shoe models. And from 5.10 to boot! *swoon* Hey Jay/other SoCallies... some of us babies (in a generally easterly direction of yous) could use a new pair'a shoes. Think you guys could do a recon of the 5.10 outlet store and report back to us as to what there is there? I'd gladly forward $$ for some supa-cheap quality shoes, esp. ones available stateside. I am a size 3.5 US (or 4.5 womens) hehe

As a few others have said the blue-green velcros are the previous model, not a new one. A few folks at my gym hand colored their new one's with markers to make them look like the old. The southwest's do look pretty wicked. I feel a pro-deal purchase coming up soon!!

I have every pair or Anasazi's they make, the velcros, the lace up's and the new mesa's. The mesa's are the green and gray ones, they were origonally going to replace the lace up's with them but too many people liked the origonal Pink lace ups so they kept them both. The mesa's are a much stiffer sole, very bomb proof for edging and great on over hung stuff. A very nice shoe but not nearly as sensitive as the pink or velcro anasazies. Try them out, you might like them. I think the anasazies are the best shoe in the world, they don't wear real well but they climb like the dickens. Try them, have fun.
