Where to mountaineers fit into this equation? ( im remembering the old joke about the boulderer, the trad climber, and the mountaineer.....)

But according to the scale, i guess im somewhere between boulderer and sportclimber. ( MGD is my beer of choice....but only with a shot right on cue once a beer)

My favorite is actually one of my brother's homebrews. He added a bunch of extra sugar or something during the fermentation and bumbed the alcohol content to like 12%. Aptly named it the "Yard Sale Ale" and even created labels with a face-planted skier for the bottles. Tasted great and two pints left me unable to drive....So I had two or three more.

How about Old Chub? Scottish ale that comes in a freakin' can. It's high gravity, (8%) It's cheap and it doesn't taste like dirty water.

And I climb everything, but mostly trad.

I totally agree with drinking whatever is local, unless it's shit. If I'm up in the Asheville area I drink French Broad, cause the guys that work in there are so damn cool and the beers good, or something from Highland like their Oatmeal Porter which is phenomenal. If I'm back in Bend it's Deschutes or BBC. If I'm in Vegas (second home) it's probably Deschutes again, cause they just started shipping down there, or maybe Sierra, cause there really isn't shit for beer in Vegas. Just drink what's good, and if it's local, it's probably fresher.

And I climb like shit but drink like a champion. Boulder, sport, aspirations of trad someday.
The cheapest beer available in Yosemite Valley (varies between King Cobra and OE800, if I recall correctly) seems to be the best bet for the climbers' beer.
Yeah...I love a good snake juice!! King Cobra is real cheap and you get a pint instead of 12 sorry ounces of other beer

It's funny you mention Boone's Farm. The last time I was at the New, it was the combo of New Castle and Boone's Farm that stole an entire day of climbing from us. LOL.

Peace.

I think you guys are all forgetting dirtbag climber rule #1:

All beer is good beer; the best beer is free beer!

I forget that rule on purpose! No beer is good beer if its beer from a can.

I like a huge variety of beer. But it must meet one of two requirements.
it must either
1) be as dark or darker than the dirt in my TN hills
2)be so hoppy it makes your lips pucker
