I don't belive in luck or fate or karma. That's not saying im synical, i just think that things happen, sometimes out of our control. For me the greatist pleasure is dealing with all the bad (and good) things that happen. My theory is just enjoy the ride

think of my friends, wish them happiness... avoid doing stuff that would lead to bad karma, such as faking illness, etc... and just enjoy life as I can!

Pretty much everything T said... and my girlfriend got me into kissing my finger/palm and touching the sun-shield-thingy after going through a yellow light... you know, to bless the car.

When I was 14 and started showing horses, my riding instructor told me on the morning of my first show: "Expect the best, but be ready for the worst." It still applies today..

I always put on/take off my left shoe first. I have a lucky baseball cap that I wear when I'm about to do something hard (I'm actually on lucky baseball cap #2, because I got hurt wearing LBC #1). I probably do other stuff, but it's so ingrained I don't even think about it any more! Kate

I'm all about Karma. At this jazz festival the other day I found a $5 bill. I asked about 6 people if they had dropped any money and they all said no. So I figured yay! $5! The I realized I had forgotten my wallet... so now I could afford dinner. But... the friend I was with ended up buying me dinner so I left the guy at the shawarma stand a $5 tip. It's all about the karma.

One of the most enlightening bumper stickers I have seen: "My Karma ran over your Dogma" To answer the question though, I try to live my life with only one true hate and that is hate itself. Sounds like an old hippie spouting off and you are correct. Ain't nothing wrong with having a good day. Just try to be good humans. Everyday. Peace and good climbing.

Well, I don't believe in religion and am not to sure on God. I don't believe in the church's dogma. I pass on good Karma when I can. I know, I try to have sex at least once a day to "refresh" my inner being...does that count? Steve [ This Message was edited by: wildtrail on 2002-09-16 00:57 ]

I'm with photon. I don't believe in superstition. You can't spend your life worrying about what isn't true, won't happen, or can't be avoided. However, I like the concept of "Karma". I try to give when I can in hopes that person will be kind to someone some day. It really isn' Karma, but it is a good name for it. Steve Anne, you're silly!

Gosh, I have no idea. I knock on wood all the time, but I don't really believe it does anything. Its more like punctuation. I say "Thank you!" when something nice happens even though I have no clue who or what I may be thanking- it just feels good and seems polite. Every day I ever got up early to watch the sunrise has been a good day. Is that a superstition? It happens every time. Hmm...kharma? Who knows. I see it working over the patterns of my life, but I could be putting it there because I like the idea. Superstitions are fun, though. Take care, Chris

Yeah, I know what you mean, but... On Friday the 13th I realize that there is only 17 or 18 days left in the month. I don't open umbrellas in indoors because they don't fit through the door that way on the way out. If I find a penny I pick it up because I could always use some spare change. I don't step on cracks because I might trip and break my own damn back. If I break a mirror I go get another one and hope it lasts seven more years. I throw salt over my shoulder when there is a plate of fries on the other side. I cry over spilled milk because I love the stuff. I don't keep rabbit's feet. That's kinda gross. An apple a day helps alleviate hunger. Looking for four-leaved clovers is a huge waste of time. Not to mention the grass stains. Those damn things don't come out. I never walk under a ladder. There could be paint dripping, or something. If I find a horseshoe, I find the horse with only three shoes and return it. I don't leave my gold outside near the end of a stupid rainbow. I wear mine. I would gladly share my garlic with a Vampire. That stuff is tasty! I have yet to get anything I ever wished for as I have always succeeded in blowing out all my candles at once on the first try. Same thing goes for that stupid chicken bone. If a cat has nine lives, why are they so easy to kill? A cricket in the house is just plain annoying. I've never had a wart, yet I've owned a toad. I think the mafia have cured the fact that a person can't drown until they go under three times. Cement shoes only allows for one. I'm always smart enough to check the weather before washing my car. A forked branch never finds water. It just means you are carrying a stick. If you rip the pedals off a flower in the "loves me, loves me not" fashion only destroys a really pretty flower. If a bell rings, it drives me nuts. I don't kiss stones. I pass them or throw them. They say it is bad luck to light three cigarettes with the same match. I smoke (socially) and know the risks involved. I think it is bad luck to light one, period. I'll pick up a coin whether its heads or tails. Its still spare change. "Counting Crows" One's bad, Two's luck, Three's health, Four's wealth, Five's sickness, Six is death. Yes, but what if you see 47? Steve

steve! well here are a few of my superstitions; At the top of every (yo-yo style) climb i kiss the biner/pulley or if its a boulder/free then I kiss the rock I believe in Karma, If your nice to someone, chances are theyll be nice back (what a surprise there) But also Proper Karma I have a lucky chain (necklace) that my best friend gave me as a debutante ball present. And also a woven band thing from same person. An eagle my friend carved me. Thats all Peace and Good Klimbing Karma Chris

I don't necessarily believe in superstition, but I believe there is an energy that keeps things in balance. I also believe that EVERYONE, regardless of who, needs something to believe in. Whether it's religion, karma, or just plain luck. There has to be rules that a person follows in life, even if those rules are evil, they are still rules. Watch that black cat! Agreed, sort of. I believe in things, but none of them are "intangable". I believe in family and friends. I believe in always drinking good beer. I believe the Sun with rise and it will set. I don't believe in religion or God or faith. Why should I? There is no proof it is real and, frankly, it isn't. Karma. Good question. I don't believe in the existence of it. However, I do believe in being nice to others (at times, I'm usually not) as, perhaps, they too, in turn will be nice to someone. Who knows. But, I agree with you to a point! Steve

pick up pennies for good luck and put in my shoe (only if they are heads up when i find them) in school when i played sports we always did the thing where you hold up your hands and don't let your feet touch the floor and or touch a screw when crossing railroad tracks. guess it could be kind of for good luck i don't know but i always make sure i kiss my husband and son before i leave them in the mornings, makes me feel better that they know i love them even if i am not with them. very superstitious must have gotten it from my mother. has anyone else heard of this one - don't cut your toenails on a sunday because it is bad luck i am not sure where she got it from but my mother has always told me that.
