Any websites show/explain how to rig the grigri for soloing. I currently use it unaltered and havn't taken any inverted dives, but better safe right. Oh yea, nice pic on the highline Ammon.

I could show you how but I dont want to say on here 'cuase you have to do some modifying(cutting and drilling)and I dont want some wanna be trying it and getting killed. If you want me to try and explain pm me.

well then might anyone explian how they have modified theirs to catch an inverted fall? I understand that if you cut the lever a bit it is less likely to get caught on something and release but I don't understand how the drilled hole is supposed to help and where one would drill.

I only tape the handle thing. I think that is all pete does and he is fine. He has taken some good falls too(I haven't).

The drilled hole is to keep it oriented right. It must be clipped into a chest harness.

The trick is YOU MUST WEAR A CHEST HARNESS!!

Two holes must be drilled. These holes are merely to tie in a keeper loop, that will clip to your chest.

Once clipped to your chest the GG is positioned to let gravity pull slack down as you move upwards. Moreover, the positioning is to maintain the line of pull on the spine of the "clip-in" biner.

Do not try to modify your Gri Gri unless you are Absolutely positive you are doing it right!!

It is very easy to affect the rope flow through the device, by drilling your holes in the wrong spot. Be very careful to file and sand away any potential burrs resulting from the drilling...
