For whatever reason, I really enjoy getting WAAAY over my head when I'm at sport areas. It just seems so damned safe. Anyway, can anybody tell me where the Great Roof/The Optimist is, so I can go drool over it and start practicing super hard fingerlocks?

the optomist is in smith rock in oregon i think, and the great roof is a pitch on the nose on el cap that goes at 13c, and i don't think there is fixed gear on that, if that is indeed the great roof you are talking about. good luck

It's in the largest formation in the marsupials. Somewhat about koala Rock. Enjoy!

I have climbed 3 climbs named "the great roof". What climb would you be referring too?

If it wasnt for the years of pounding pins in. I dont think you could free it. Thank the aiders.

I know its at smith. I wouldn't have posted it here (in the Regional Discussions forum that links to Smith Rocks) if I didn't already know that. It was formerly an aid climb called the Great Roof. I just want to know where.

You can take a look at the attachment to my post here to see a picture of Brogan Spire. Brogan Spire is the spire right in the middle of the picture and the Great Roof is the big left-facing roof below it. Hey, I'm not sure if the 2nd pitch has been freed yet....
