I noticed this on my belay loop (See Attached) last night while I was at the gym. The harness is three months old. It is time for a replacement? Or is that stitching that got pulled up just superficial and don't worry about it. (Petzl Corax if anyone is wondering)

I would still climb on it. Most of the strength in the belay loop comes from the large black stiches. The outside stitching it there so things dont snag the flapping pieces of belay loop.

This is why it would be helpful to publish a photo of Todd Skinner's belay loop. Without it, some folks are questioning perfectly good harnesses. GO The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. (William Blake)

Agreed, I believe there is another post regarding the pic of his belay loop. I had read the article in latest Rock & Ice and seeing this last night just got me a bit worried. I figure it was better to ask and be safe.
