The smoke was pouring out of my ears today on the drive home as I read RC.com forums on my Blackberry, swerved around suburban moms in their over-sized vehicles, and ran three bumper sticker laden Volvo's off the road. I noticed that there are an ever increasing library of home videos showing people doing really stupid things and posting them in cyberspace. This really disturbed me at first and then I decided that we need to put these people to use. (as I flashed my lights and blew my horn at the driver in front of me six inches off my front bumper.) So, I think everyone would appreciate it if we could cull through the anals (or is that annuls) of RC.com for videos of people doing stupid things that make us feel better about the life saving properties of our gear. Also, this search should be expanded to cyberspace and the real world as we run out of additional material. I envision this as something like Accidents in North American Mountaineering, but they need not be accidents or bloopers...In fact it's better if they're quite the opposite. In fact some of these may not be very stupid at all, but they must be enlightening. So, if you're looking for some cyber fame then lets make this a little scientific and put all these “events” in one place where we can all learn from them. Get out there, set up your tests, push the limits, abuse your gear and your body (on purpose or on accident), and be sure to catch it all at 32 frames per second and post up for the rest of us. Some recent examples (I hope I'm just scratching the surface here, I was too lazy to searh for more) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2guWbO0Z_Hc

My thoughts exactly!!!!! When I first noticed video's on this site I thought "cool". But I did not realize I was on GYMDORK.com. What kind of jack ass films themselves climbing in a DAMN gym. Now I understand there are a lot of gym dorks on this site but seriously do you really want to go through the trouble of finding a ROCK CLIMBING web site only to find videos of some idiot struggling on a V0 at "enter your gym name here". I do not climb in gyms and do not want to hear about it. especially on a ROCK climbing page. COME ON bring the FLAMES you gym dorks

I only checked the videos on this site once. It was posted by kansasclimber of some guy taking a huge whipper in a gym. The best part was that the fall occured like 2 feet above his last clip. How does this happen, it's a gym, so everyone is belay certified. Right? http://www.rockclimbing.com/...e_Gym_Fall__116.html

COME ON bring the FLAMES you gym dorks \i guess i'm a GYMDORK as i recently took some videos of myself and friends climbing indoors. Of course, we were all taking lead falls at the end of the route. 40ft route, and near a 35foot whipper. as for the gym climbing part.... its supposed to be single digits this week. Only the stupid would would want to climb outdoors. one thing we noticed right away with the videos tho.... is that they can be a good tool for beginners as you can take a video of a good climber, and a new/bad climber.... put them side by side and let the newb watch the foot work and technique differences to see how they can improve.

I'm going to head out in the freezing rain this weekend... hang on my gear and put my hands down my pants. Check this out: make sure you watch the whole thing through the end for "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" http://www.urbanclimbermag.tv/...797&ObjMgrIC=797

Sounds like perfect weather to me. YES perfect weather for nor-cal limestone. One crag in particular you can't climb in any other conditions....WAY too hot. I've completed .13's while the snow was falling. Only landed on finishing hold and more than 30ft. from the base. Fire and hand warmers makes all the difference
