Well the pic was sufficiently different to get my interest. Mostly though because I was trying to work out what I was seeing. Eventually I worked out that the splodge of colour was a climber and not a broken doll or a piece of tat. The sea of rock doesn't give my eyes anything to hang on, I lack context to immediately know what the picture is about. This might work heaps better in a larger format that sadly is not available on rc.com. Lastly, butt shot ;)) OK positives, it's a rock climbing photo what could be better. Those overhangs look wicked. I dunno how you can capture blocky overhangs like this without taking a butt shot, I have been working for years trying to get a decent pic of a huge blocky overhang that is always in the shade but with the sky always burning my shots out. It can be so cramped up under the roof that taking from inside the overhang corner is not really an option. I'd love others perspective on how to take that difficult shot. The other one is where the climbers hands and feet are wholly within the crack, those shots suck but in other ways if you can pull it off those shots can also really really shine.

I too am lost in the sea of rock. I almost missed that there were two climbers in this photo. One of them blends right in with the rock. Besides the climber with the purple pants and blue shirt the rest of the photo is kind of bland where color is concerned. I would have liked to have seen more color or maybe go the other direction and convert to black and white and up the contrast for something a little more dramatic, I dunno. I do however like the panoramic format. I'm very partial to panoramic photos of any kind. Was this cropped from a normal size image or is this several images stitched together? Jason

It was cropped. And akin to phil's statement about size, much was lost when I had to fix this one and the others that I'll pop up. I'll try in B&W and play with some of the contrast settings. These shots were not altered other than the crop.

I would try to really push up the saturation, to bring out the clothing of the climbers. As it is they really do blend in a fair bit.

Here's a B&W fix Like the comments above, I can see how this pic is boring. The contrast does come out better here. Unfortunately the size doesn't help with this shot. I may try to host it elsewhere and link to it so that the size is better. *sigh* oh well.

Colour management will make or break this one. Here's my try: In Photoshop: Auto-levels Bumped up exposure by 30 points Burned the midtones a bit on everything but the climbers to make them stand out as brighter Sponge tool to add some extra saturation to the guy in the green shirt (careful here).
