Does anyone know the longest confirmed highline walk?

Potter's line (which was called a record) in masters of stone 5 was 125 or 130 feet.

Pretty much becomes a materials issue. Past some arbitrary length most all materials have so much tension that your body weight starts to be inadequate in terms of getting the line to 'settle down' and stay that way so you can walk it. I've been on some really long lines where even under body weight they still want to float around randomly in about a 2-2.5 foot circle. At that point you aren't just walking the line, you are walking it while randomly floating through space as well. That's typically when poles and guy-lines start coming into play.

If you're talking webbing then I would imagine you have to start stacking up the strands and past a certain point it's not going to make much sense to not switch to another, more suitable material which would usually be steel cable.

That line was 118' and was the longest, but I know longer lines have been walked.

I'm mainly talking highlines with webbing or rope with no guy lines or poles.

Yeah, I broke my back off an desparate, impromptu, and quite halluceginic highline made from both a rope and webbing that ran a bit longer than that - of course the highbar dismount to a sky-reaching catapult shot was clearly ill-advised...

Was Potter's setup not a highline? I've walked a 160'er but not at height.

310 has been walked lowline, but to my knowledge no one has come close to that up high. I've only done a 130 but I've never attempted anything longer. Sure, I walked it to and back 2nd try but I have no illusions that I could do that at height without significant projecting first.

Hi there!

During a slacklining event called Polish Slackline Open 2007 held on 3rd March in Warsaw Janek Galek and Damian Cooksey walked a 115' highline (indoors) and on the next day Damian walked a 405' 5'' lowline in Pole Mokotowskie park (Warsaw, Poland) Cool

well, give it a few weeks to a month, and the new record is going to be 167 feet! We got bolts on order, and a new, super secret highline location!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA! Very excited!

Well, Damian has now full-manned a 167 ft highline up in Idllywild, CA. Longest confirmed walk to date.

I tried it many times, but it felt like I was trying to walk on the back of a raging bull. I did not make it, but look forward to my next attempt.

Nice Damian, and I'm sure 167ft will not be the record for long, especially if Damian decides to try longer.

Was just up on top of the Bastille in Eldo yesterday copping some of the remains of Ivy Baldwin's wire for a bracelet. Slackling is fun, but even trad line walks like the Lost Arrow pale in comarison to the wires like the Bastille walk. Ivy used to sit it out for over an hour at a time out on the wire waiting for the wind to ease up and walked it last at 82. Burly business. Some old Swiss walks in the alps were in the range of thousands of feet long and high. Those guys would stop and have lunch in the middle of the walk. True they used poles, but at a certain point where bodies aren't heavy enough they become mandatory. How poles are then 'tuned' determines how sketch a walk is.

Saw the imgaes during a rigging training. I think, this was done by Mike Gibbs of R4R in Colorado.

edit; this was highline only and no one walked on it
