Have any of you been to Utah recently and climbed? is it too cold out there to climb comfortably or is it not to bad when it is 50? I know if I go I should do routes in the sun, and the nights are chilly but are the afternoons tolerable? is the rock freezing?

Southern Utah is great right now. Not sure about the conditions up north, it just depends on where and what you want to climb.

I live in Salt Lake. The south facing rock, on a sunny day mid-forties or above, can be quite pleasant. Not too cold for your hands, and your shoes stick well. It has been bitter cold for much of the winter here, but seems to be warming nicely now. A lot of years, I have climbed much of the winter. Try Little Cottonwood canyon on the north side (South facing), or the sport routes above the S curve in Big Cottonwood canyon. Both can frequently be pleasant on sunny days even mid winter. It gets cold fast when the sun goes away, so keep warm clothes nearby.

Everything's good right now. I was up little yesterday, bouldering. Everything was prime, temps were good (although colder than usual), at about mid 30's I believe. After the sun went down, it got much colder, and it started to snow on us a bit, which is about the time we took off. Basically, as long as it's dry here, it'll be warm enough to climb.
