The theme for the July issue of the mag is Women climbers. I liked the variety of age and lifestyles covered (with longer articles from Lynn Hill's book and about Beth Rodden).

There's also a review on nuts.

Funny how there's a review on nuts in the Women's issue - I wonder if it is what women have to say about nuts... hmmmm.... I think they should have an article on trad. climbing without nuts... Just to be funny

I don't have nuts to climb with so I'm interested in what some have to say! I think it would be tough to climb with them You gotta take some time for the good times here folks. Never miss the opportunity to make others smile.

One lil' gripe, though. I love Lisa Rands. She kicks some hardcore bouldering butt. But does she deserve a 2-page centerfold-type spread and someone like Nancy Feagin gets a 1/2 page cubby with a 1-paragraph bio? She attempted Everest and retreated after near death due to severe pulmonary edema. Went back to summit 2 weeks after her retreat. Besides her mountaineering expertise, she's a competitive ice climber, big waller, and oh yeah. She climbs 5.13. They could barely fit her most harrowing accomplishments in that little nod.

I looked at the cover and didn't buy it. What I want to know first is this:

How much time did they spend talking about each climber's looks and body versus their climbing accomplishments?

I didn't want to sit and read all the articles before I decided it was worth my hard-earned money.

Kate...I understand you concern.

Personally I think it was very well-written and was not offended by anything in there. They really paid tribute to the accomplished women of climbing.

Definitely worth the buy.

Cool! Then I shall stop by the store before they take it off the shelves.
