Anything but red?? Try maybe blue, which is the opposite color on spectrum chart... That might be the answer

Nice.

I've seen some great pics where the climber was wearing bright blue.

yeah but green is my least favorite color...and the person will get xmas tree jokes made about his beloved photograph if the climber wears green.

Whit and black present issues, photgraphically. White may cause exposure differences that will test the photographers skills. Black often is difficult to bring out definition. Bib blob problems...

Looking at some climbing magazins might give you a feel for how colors interact with the rock faces... In the March Rock & ice issue, there's a shot on page 22, royla blue shirt, climber on red(ish) rock - looks great.

On page 24, guy's wearing a red shirt, on re9ish) rock...and it looks great because the climber shot from the side, and the climber's silhouetted against the deep blue sky instead of the rock...(Hmmmm....if you wear a blue shirt, and the photographer shoots you against the blue sky, next to that red rock, you're screwed....

Also, contrast-y colors can convey excotement, whereas complimentary colors give a more mellow look. You might want that, if the phot is supposed to convey a cool-headed lead. But not if you want to convey a shit-dribbler freakout fit.

So....the answer is: Like everything else in climbing, it depends. You would do well to post in the Photo section, or at least search that forum.

Forget the color of the rock, go with something that will match your eyes.
Fashion above function.

Just ask your photographer what he or she wants you to wear. They will likely know what looks good or know what buyers are going to want. I would say a bright green or blue would look really nice. Yellow might work well also, but definitely not red.

i WOULD say blue, but it depends if you're getting some bright blue sky in your shot, and then maybe green or something...

This post should be moved to photogrpahy section, but anyways, look HERE for ideas on complimentary colors with little and strong contrasts. Or just google for "complimentary colors".

I agree - it's not blue it's not green... solves everything. But then again, what colour are your eyes?
