i am adding cams to my lead rack and i wanted to know what size cams are most commonly used in the southern illinois areas like Cedar Bluff, Drapers, Ferne Clyff Park, Giant City, and Jackson Falls. If anyone has any info let me know.. I'll be using Wild Country Cams if that helps too..

Thanks

Cedar and Drapers you'd want a standard rack, Giant City it top ropes, Jackson Falls is largely bolted but you could put a standard rack to work there as well. Glad to hear someone mention GC as it is has been largely unclimbed for quite sometime and there are plenty of gems there.

What do you consider a standard rack? I have no cams at this time but two set of rocks 1- 14, 1-10 and a set of micro's i had some rockcentrics by wild country but they were becoming bulky and noisy so i want to go with a small selection of cams but i dont know what cams to get and i dont want to spend money that i dont have to...

Thanx

See my reply in your Red River Gorge post for standard rack, it will work in So Ill also.

You will likely find the Rockcentrics of limited use. I could never get hexes to work very well in the softer sandstone of the Red or So Ill. The cracks tend to be too irregular and flaring to get one set.

Don't know, the old Chouinard Hexs always worked for us around SoIll prior to cams. We also did all sorts of pocket stacking/stuffing. Titons were handy as well. CMI IBeams on the otherhand were pretty worthless.
