I have a ton of photos taken by myself and another climber with a digi cam. Most have been loaded direct from the camera to a CD or onto my drive. The photos were all taken with high res. and therefore are large files. How does a computer illiterate compress the files so I can post them here and on other sites?

Do you have photoshop? Very easy to crop/compress with photoshop. Im sure you can download a trial version but it will probably only last a month.

- Load them into pretty much any Photo Editing software. - Go to "Format" then change the dimension to the size listed in the submission page: Quote:- Under 800 Pixels for Medium - Under 600 Pixels for Low - Click on "File", most editors have a "Smart Saver" option. This brings up the compression window. make sure you have the Jpeg Icon selcted then use the slider bar to reduce the picture under the required file size: Quote:- Under 80K for Medium -Under 40K for Low - Once that is done submit the photo. Make sure you: Quote:-Link to the Route Databse -Select Grade (High *rarely do we accept high submissions*, Medium, or Low) -Click the correct category (all topos/profile shots most be submitted as Low) -Check if you want voting and rankings allowed. Hope that helps!
