When I'm working, I'm jones'n to climb so I'm on the Net all day long, filling my day with virtual climbing stuff. I do it so much that I'm starting to worry that I'm going to get busted. I delete my history, cookies and temp internet files in hopes that our technology nazis won't bust me. Anyone got any knowledge of some software or something that I can download to hide my tracks? I know of iclean but I don't want to buy it. I want it for FREE! Yes, I'm evil and I'm trying to be deceptive but I think that being able to access this stuff from work helps out with morale! So there!

keep in mind if your work uses a firewall they have the capability of tracking you regardless. two copies of your history and internet files. one on your machine and one on the firewall. Not all companies do this but you might want to check. Just think, if you get fired you will have more time to climb.

Hmm, I think that is why I got canned from my job this summer. They said that they were doing some "restructuring" of the company and that my part-time position was no longer needed. HAHA. BTW, now I DO have more time to climb

your pretty much SOL, I am a Network Admin and if I want to track you, I can, pretty much no matter what you do. The only thing that may help in your situation (if you don't want to 'bribe' your IT dept) would be an 'anonymizer' service. These are proxies out on the internet, if you were to use one, ALL your requests would be going to the anonymizer site and not to the real site, but of course we Admin's know this trick. sorry

give your password out to others then let them use your machine, then claim that you cannot take responsibility since you are NOT the only one who has used that machine.

this is why our IT guy is one of my good buddies :-) he has me on the "No History" list. of course, i'm generally to busy at work to spend more than 15 minuts a day on the net. you should get a job you like doing, rather than a job thay doesn't fire you for slacking off.

Get anonymous browsing software and you can visit any site you like, even if they ban you.

Doughnuts hell, if you wanna have the IT guy in you pocket here is the Sacred Bribe List of Duck for IT professionals, depending on how big the favour, or how badly you want something, just go further down the list. Class-1 favour (like unrestricted net access) good things are... 6-Pack of Heineken or Guinness (ask what he prefers, one or the other will most always be good). A new spindle of GOOD QUALITY CD-R's (cheap ones will be taken as an insult and may require you to have them surgically removed). Class-2 Favour (perhaps a little Black-Flag software) In-Kind Software (don't ask for wares if you're not going to share). If you show up with a "Bible" of CDs it goes a long way. A cool new optical trackball, etc some cheap IO thingie. An old and obscure computer widget (Geeks long for esoterica, find an old 8" floppy and you'll get a favour for it). Class-3 Favour (Something that could cost a career). Something Rackmount (think Cisco for starters) Something with multiple processors, bonus if it's rackmount. Any computer less than 5 years old that weighs over 100lbs. Other much sought after geek tools...... A Harris Test Set (Lineman's Handset) , Geeks (especially Computer/Pheaks, etc) LOVE these, $200 at home depot will get you their firstborn. BE creative A CD of Good porn is a great way to say hi Duck, Leader of the Geeks.

Also a net admin here... pretty much nothing you can do, if I wanted to track my people, I can watch every move, get in good with the IT guys, the only safe way.
