Looking at the Friends of Indian Creek it seems there are a number of new restrictions in place. We are headed up there next month and I want to know, are the restricted areas obvious? I know some camping at BJ is okay but some isn't and the map isn't all that clear. What about the new parking bans? We want to play nice and don't want to screw it up for others out of ignorance.

The biggest change with regards to camping is that many of the sites along the initial stretch into the Bridger Jacks are closed. In other words, all sites along Beef Basin before the cattleguard prior to the right turn and for about a half-mile in after the turn. The sites are now all numbered and are very obvious -- just drive in and you'll eventually see site #1 on your left. The biggest change to parking has to do with access to walls near the Dugout Ranch (ie Way Rambo). Instead of crossing over the Creek and turning left and parking before a fence, one should park immediately upon turning left. Do not move the rocks so that you can drive in an extra 200 feet. Park at the turn. Also, try not to block the road in any direction. This adds all of 5 minutes hiking time to Way Rambo and the other cliffs over what it was a year or two ago.

Also, there's now a primitive toilet at the turnoff for Beef Basin road. So that means you can take a dump there or at Newspaper Rock and not on the ground near your campsite. If you have to go, you can also usually get Wag Bags at the new Kiosks at the entrance to Bridger Jack camping and at the Supercrack parking lot. It's highly entertaining pulling up to the toilet in the morning before cragging and getting in the unspoken line with all the other climbers, then watching Needles tourists pull up, completely ignore all the people waiting, and try to use the bathroom out of turn.
