Got $500 to spend on some cams. I'm interested in the Camp Air Cams but their fall ratings are less than other comapnies. But they are light. I'm open to other suggestions...

10kN is less than most other cams which are 12-14kN depending upon cam and size but 10kN is what most larger sized stoppers are rated at. However, I once remember a quote by Chris Harmston the former Quality Assurance Manager for Black Diamond Equipment where he said that he never saw a 10kN stopper ever fail (break) in the field. (I'm going to search to see if I can find the exact source of that quote.) I guess that if real world forces are such that a 10kN stopper is unlikely to fail, I would think the same applies to cams. Edit: I didn't specifically answer your question. A lot of the recommendations that you will get are based soley on personal preferences. Go to a good gear shop and play around with all the gear or borrow a friends gear. See what you feel comfortable with.

Confucious say " buy nice or buy twice ". Camp cams are decent and certified pro. They will work, but, arguably not the best. 9 out of 10 people will say the following, " buy black diamond or metiolous shit head ", so thats what I'm telling you. My personal rack consists of 17 cams, the smaller in metolious and the larger in Black Diamond. Again, buy nice or buy twice. I love you.

They look WALK-tastic! A little narrow, me thinks, for the look of them, at least for the larger sizes. Are they even avaliable yet? This is the first time I have seen them. I think I should go write a review of them before I buy or use any of them, based purely upon the single picture with no specs to speak of. :0

Right now GearExpress is selling the entire range of Metolius Ultralight cams for $499. Free shipping. Or for ~$360 you could get a set of Forged Friends from #2-#4 and a set of TCUs from #1-#4 with money to spare. If you're looking for cheap, light, and strong it's hard to beat Forged Friends.

Metolius ultralights are sweet if you're looking for light weight cams for the alpine rack.

Nice, wide lobe placements.
