Hey, I'm just about due for a new harness & there are new ones out! I'm looking for a fully adjustable one for multipitch. Anyone tried: - Petzl Corax II (2)? - Camp Quartz/Jasper CR? - Other suggestions? I'll try them at the store for comfort before buying, but I was wondering whether anyone noticed cool/anoying things about them. Thanx!

I just spent a few minutes hanging in the new Corax at the local gear store this evening, and ordered myself a Luna (women's version). I wouldn't hesitate to use it on routes with a hanging belay. Both the Corax and Luna have two slots for caritools which is great if you ice climb, and useful even on rock once you get used to them. They also have the stiff, standup gear loops only on the front loops on each side, the back 2 gear loops are flat (if you do any offwidth or chimney climbing this is great). It was also burlier looking in person than I expected. Have fun shopping!

Has anybody compared the new Corax with the old one? I love the old one, and am looking at getting the new one, but the new one does not have the same type of leg loops, which makes me wonder about the comfort of it.

I think the arcteryx vapor is the best harness out there, but the legs aren't adjustable. For the best adjustable harness, that will last, look at misty. Petzl's are nice, but to flimsy for long-term durability. Also the "lighter weight" yates are supposed to be tits.

The new Corax seems a lot heavier (like x2) than the model from 4 years ago that was blue. But everything else was there like usual.

I think that Yates or Misty make the best harnesses because you can get one with a belay loop that actually fits. Of course, I'm pretty tall, but having an extra two inches in my belay loop has made my harness so much more comfortable...

I have 2 different Misty Mt.s and do predominantly long trad (when i have a choice) 1 is the Misty Mountain Cadillac (walls) the other is the Misty Mountain Sonic (lighter weight). I hung in quite a few b4 buying and these are the schizzel IMO. BD made one that LOOKED identical to the sonic, but was painful while hanging in it. My last harneess was a Petzl Jump and both of these are better than that, and it wasn't a bad harness either.

The thread title seems to make it out like things have changed enough for this model year to make 2006 not worth discussing. (Opinion on new 2007 harnesses) The biggest change in the harness world is the total design Metolius did on thier stuff. I haven't looked at it closely, but if I was going to get a harness right now, I'd want to hang in one of those for sure. They make a couple of models, suited for different uses, and the wall harness (the Waldo) looks at least as good but most likely better than the Yates and the Misty Mt.- which are at the top of that pile of harness's IMO.

Metolius makes a fine harness, but like all their gear, it's overpriced.

It's right in there with the others I mentioned, in fact, isn't the WAldo less than the Yates Big Wall?

What about Trango? I have had one of their old harnesses for a long time that is really nice. The Vertical maybe? I was thinking about staying with Trango and maybe getting the Diamond.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Unfortunately, any of the Misty or Metolius are not available locally for me and I will not buy a harness without trying it. In the end I did get the Corax 2 because it felt much better than the one I have & I got a nice discount on it . It's a bit less padded than the previous version, but seems lighter. Gear loops in the back are flat so they don't get in the way of backpacks. Side ones are just slightly outwards & curve to the front to keep gear handy. Here's the picture for those who are curious: I'll post more comments after a few good test drives...

I'm counting down the days until the new [url=http://www.wildcountry.co.uk/Products/NewEliteSeriesHarnesses/EliteSyncro/]Wild Country Elite Synchro arrives. Based on the regular elite its going to be mega-comfy but its the eleventybillion gear loops that I'm really waiting for. Shame that they don't make a fixed leg version but I think I'll just buy a fixed leg WC vision and swap the leg loops over.

Well, i can't lay it alllllll down right now for the harness's, but you should definately jump on the new carabiner pairing aritical in todays RC.fashionnoob.whatthehellhavewecome too.com artical. Right here: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...;;page=unread#unread Please,....hold the applause: your straightened out sense of fashion is thanks enough.

I recently bought the new Corax to replace my old Corax (the blue one.) It really like it. It is very comfortable. The waist belt and leg loops are wider than my old Corax adding to the comfort while hanging. I like the new gear loop in the front. It is bigger than the old loops, and still pushes gear to the front. The rear gear loops are really far back, and will take some getting used to.
