So I'm visiting my buddy in Denver and we're going to do some sport climbing (I dont TRAD or multi-pitch yet), but I'm wondering if Eldorado would be good for sport. I'm looking for some 5.7-5.9 for my bud and 5.11+ for me. I dont want to go to Rifle on this trip. Hows Eldorado?

Thanks

Zak

Perfect. Eldo is one of the best sport climbing spots in the country.

I almost want to see the accident report...

Eldo's mostly trad, since they don't allow much bolting there anymore. Most of what is there is harder than 5.11 (Your Mother comes to mind, 12c I've heard?).

You'd be better served heading to the Golden Cliffs or Boulder Canyon, but neither are destinations by any stretch of the imagination.

C'est What, Your Mother and The Contest are the ones I can think of. If you are feeling brave, there are climbs you can do by clipping pitons and fix gear. In any case, you don't want to fall on those climbs at certain spots. Go up Boulder Canyon or down to Clear Creek for protected sport climbs.

I dunno about Eldo...I always head it was a big trad spot, so I never checked it out...but I really like Shelf...there's just soooo much climbing there and it's really beautiful
