Yea what is the big deal if the line breaks. Dont use your climbing gear. If you need biners just use your home depot ones.

You don't even need ratchets or biners... just webbing. Tie one end around a tree or pole. Take the other end and tie an overhand on a bite about 2' from the opposite pole when the webbing is pulled tight at desired height. Sling the other end around the opposite tree/pole and feed through the bite. Pull. Keep pulling. Wrap excess slack around the tree/pole several times and tuck it under itself. Done.

hey, i used HD rapid links for my first line.Tongue

but ya no climbing equipment, and ratchets probably aren't worth using either. i think my first setup was 40ft of webbing, 3 rapid links, and 2 static rope slings. it's about as crude a setup as you can get, but i used it for over a year before i upgraded.

2 biners and webbing lets you rig a 3 to 1 pulley system. There are directions online. I've used this method for the 4 months I've slacklined now... so I like it. If you need details pm me.
