I have a pair of Boreal Stringer, they r about 3 years old..I am planning to resole them..but don't have any guideline to do it.
What's the deal about resoling? How effective r they?

My favorite pair is on its 3rd-4th? resole. It's a crime to throw out a pair of RC shoes you love. I don't recommend the do-it-yourself kits. Send it off somewhere.
I don't recommend the place where I just got two of my pairs done. I'll try to find the name for sure when I get home but I think it was...Rock N Resole, or something like that. I used to mail them off to some place down in Boulder that always did a good job. Probably can find them in the advertisers list in Climbing mag or on internet.

Hate to break the bad news astone, but Jules was killed in a motorcycle accident a couple months ago, and Red Rocks Resole is no more. Quite a tragedy.

Where do I get my shoes resoled in Canada?
Has anyone from Canada had any problems sending them down to the states to get resoled?

I don't know about Stingers but the Rubber Room in Bishop, California has always done a great job on my Mythos and Miura shoes.

get dragons or v10's by five.ten. if you are lucky (like me and my friend) after about 3 months of heavy use (every other day at the gym) they will break and you can just send them back for new ones!! (the v10's ripped at the sole and the staps holding hte velcro buckles on my dragons are ripping because the straps rotate out of place) 5.10 is famous for standing behind their products. plus i think they do their own resoles (with stealth c4 no doubt!!)

To answer the original question, resoling means that the rubber soles (and maybe the rubber along the sides, toe and heel, too) will be removed, and then replaced with new rubber. That will be glued in place, trimmed to the orignal shape, and the shoes returned to you.
Depending on the condition of the upper (leather or man-made), the shoes should feel almost as tight as new again. The useful life of the shoe should be dependent on the condition of the upper, not the rubber. Try to get shoes resoled before the upper gets damaged (gets a hole in it, or gets torn). Some resolers will repair such damage as best as possible, but will charge a little more, and the shoe will probably still have a shorter life than if it had not been damaged.
As far as living in India, I have no idea about resolers there. In the U.S. I recommend Marmot Mountainworks.
