Hey guys and gals, im looking for a nice spot to go climbing and camping, i need the routes to be at 5.8 to 5.10 and would prefer a secluded area. My wife and kids are gonna be with me to an easy approach would be nice as well. I know about eleven mile but it gets rather crowded with ppl other than climbers. Would like to stay with in 1 hour of Colorado springs. If you know the perfect spot please let me know.

Your best bet within an hour, moderate routes, and easy approach would be Turkey Rock.

shelf road in canon city. about an hour from the springs. two campsites. mostly bolted routes in the 10-11 range but there is plenty of stuff in the 8-10 range. never crowded. can't make reservations for campgrounds and they never fill up. $4/night self pay on blm land.

Shelf road is very nice. Only been there once and some of the approaches are rather long and confusing. But the route selection is stellar. Rifle is close to me, so thats a favorite of mine; may be alittle stoute on the grading though. there are only a handful that I can even try, and they do get busy on the weekends. However, there is camping above the park and all routes are within biking distance from the campground. Let me knwo if I can be of any help!
