What is it for anyway? Could someone please explain? I must say, in 2 years of climbing I've never seen other climber (and I know some pretty experienced climbers) even own it... I've only used it to make a home-made gear sling and some rope protectors were left over from the gear sling making process. I'm just curious.

Try a hard squeeze chimney with all that crap on your waist. They have their uses.
Also, incredibly burly anchor slings. Especially for slack lining, when you don't want to hurt the tree.
