Anyone got any good mountain or climbing songs? So far all I got is 'Aint no mountain high enough' by the temptations.

Not a song but a poem I found about 20 years ago in a yosemite bathroom wall. It is much funnier when you are 10. We're mountaineers with hairy ears we live in caves and ditches we wipe our ass with broken glass and laugh because it itches.

Rocky Top (you'll always be Home Sweet Home to Me! Good ole Rocky Top, Rockey Top Tennessee!). Watch Huell Howser's California Gold episode on Half Dome... very cool in his hokey down home way. 'You mean, you MEAN.... we're going UP THERE? UP THERE???!!!' Hahahha I love that dude. Anyway, at the end of that show they run a 5 minute reel of 1930s (Sierra Club no doubt) hkers going up the cables in their green wool knickers and boys cout looking shirts. Its awesome! Anyway, as they run that old thymey film they play this song "I'm climbing up!" This feller in a very deep baritone, a Barry White sorta baritone, sings it. AWESOME! My daughter and I will occasionally belt out a round. Let's see... I tried to google a source, can't find it. I sent Huell an email asking him... I'm curious to see if I get a response. BET I DO!!! Cheers DMT

And I wouldn't exactly call them "fashionable" -- popular maybe, and even then only in a certain fraction of the polulation.

Might not be relevant but, On alpine climbs my team usually sings all sorts of things to keep spirits up. Everything from Motown, to rap, pop, you name it, we sing it. Anything is a good mountain song if u know the tune. Our personal favorites: "Now your a man" - Man of War Musical number from not another teen movie ( the jerk off in your french toast song ) "My girl" - (some old group) "High" - Jimmy's Chicken Shack

Mountain Music by Alabama Swim across the river Just to prove that I'm a man Spend the day bein' lazy Just bein' nature's friend Surprise Valley by Widespread Panic Oh, kiss the mountain air we breathe Good-bye it's time to fly. Sparrow climb, the air is thinner, Open wings cast this valley in the shade.
