Hi all, Hope the summer is treating you well. I received a notice from one of our Blue Ridge Parkway rangers, Eddy Cartaya that the Park Service will be holding a mock rescue for the local rescue squads to practice high angle rescue situations at Ship Rock. This kind of simulation can only benefit and enhance our local rescue squads abilities to help us in the need of an actual incident. The simulation will be taking place on Sunday August 19th. It will begin around 1:00pm and last until dark. As a result, there will be a considerable amount of congestion associated with this activity. A portion of the parking area at Rough Ridge will be restricted to parking of emergency vehicles only. You may want to consider another destination on this particular day. The Linville Central Rescue Squad will be leading this exercise. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so online or by mail.
