it depends on the manufacturer, each has their own method. i also doubt you'll get a specific name for the chemical other than what they post on their website, as that sort of thing tends to be trade secret stuff.

It seems strange that something that is talked about and used so often. We really don't know what it is.

Surprise, surprise, it is NOT a bright idea. Every manufacturer has their own treatments. Teflon is just one ingredient among several that may be used for a treatment. Ours is a proprietary formula I developed with a chemical formulator company. Generally the chemical makeup of the treatments are trade secrets. Ours is secret.

And there is a reason that it is a secret. Because if climbers found out what it really was, they would probably think twice about whether they wanted to use it. You see, the secret ingredient is Soylent Noob. Ubiquitous Noobs can be easily found in droves congregated at any of your local Bouldering Comps. They mulitply like crazy, and at clean up time, there are still hordes of them hanging around. The noobs are scooped up and taken to a facility where they are lead into a room There, they are euthanized while they peacefully watch Chris Sharma videos Then they are packaged and shipped off to the processing plant Where they are efficiently processed into wafers of Soylent Noob that will be used as Dry Treatment for ropes So now you know the secret... Soylent Noob... is climbers! It's made out of climbers!

Of course they're toxic, everything man made is. Don't you know anything about organic food, breast feeding, or lead based paint? PS... YOUR CAPS LOCK IS ON, AND IT'S FUCKIN ANNOYING.

You noobs are like sheep being led to the slaughter!
XTREMEBEAU wrote: ARE THE INGREDIENTS TOXIC Don't you wonder what happens to all those noobs who appear to be getting into the sport, but then you never see them again? Come on! It's in everything. What's the key ingredient in your dry rope? --> Soylent Noob What are "Synthetic" shoes actually made from? --> Soylent Noob What substance gives your Cliff Bars its nutrition? --> Soylent Noob And where does it come from? Climbers!...Soylent Noob is climbers!
