"it is the greatest site"... man, is still under construction I'm a web developer and this kind of things should be revealed until some level is reached, otherwise, visitors will get a wrong idea of the site. Besides, i suggest to remove the music, most of the people are already listening music on their computers. If you remove the music, the site will load faster. I supose you are the creator, is a god flash work, keep on it. On the god side, it takes time, patience, skills and dedication to create a website, and more if is a personal site (there's nobody paying) so congrats on your effort. What I said is my personal opinion, hope nobody takes it bad. [ This Message was edited by: hroldan on 2002-10-05 10:12 ]

Hey it's not that bad... All you really need are some more clear pics and some video's (Want Some?) and then some info on climbing. Don't stop now. You are getting to the good part... JBone

boulderpaul-- as a web author, im gonna offer some constructive criticism. dont get pissed. if youre gonna have a site, youre gonna want input on how to improve it and make it better...trust me oin this... first of all, i wouldnt actually publish it until you have more content. it gives a bad first impression. your pictures are taking WAY too long to load...try using smaller thumbnails and allowing your visitors to CHOOSE which photos they want to see more detail of...(i know youve basically got this happening, but all the frames and buttons and flash is too much) second-work it out on paper first. if your site doesnt make sense in an outline fashion, it wont work online. youve gotta walk before you can run, and this will help you to keep links organized as you update. i recommend a "whats new" type page. it allows reasonably fast uploading for new updates, and keeps visitors coming back with expectations of something new... remove some of the fancy shit...ie:flash and background "noise". it slows down the loading time, and sad reality dictates that most people still use dial-up. frequent visits will be generated by content, not fancy bullshit. the BG graphics are cool...but uneccessary. the flash is decent, but also uneccessary. save yourself some bandwidth and your visitors some time by keeping it simple. finally, what i do, and this is merely opinion, is give each area its own main page with thumbnails, and have more detailed pics open up in a seperate page. it speeds up loading time, creates the illusion of a larger site without taking up too much memory, keeps areas and problems in an organized and navigable manner, and gives your visitors something to do while browsing. what i mean is, visitors want to "look around". if your pics are labled and posted in thumbnail form all on one main page(as you presently have), your visitors have seen what theyve come for. instead, split your photos by type or area, or photographer, or climber, or whatever. this creates more pages for your visitors to browse. the more time they spend looking at your site, the better your chances of getting repeat visitors. i dont claim to be the man or have the ebst site or know everything. but i have several friends that get paid HIGH dollars for developement and this is what ive learned from them. through trial and error, and their input, ive developed a reasonable website (ALWAYS room for improvement )that generates MANY frequent visits(over 400 hits a month...not bad for an amateur...) and actually generates requests from professional websites for "link trades". these ideas work...take it or leave it... by the way, if youre interested-- boulderingmadman.tripod.com later... Ditto on the speeding up of the loading... I live in the dark ages (56k dial-up) and it never did load up... so it can't be the best anything site ever. Cool empty black page dude! Jeff [ This Message was edited by: krustyklimber on 2002-10-12 17:28 ]
