i have heard a few pretty interesting/hilarious stories about this plane that went down i THINK near yosemite - maybe in the 70s. what i recall from the story was that there was all this dope on the plane and a lot of it had fallen into this lake near the site of the crash that was then frozen. i know a bunch of climbers went up to find it. is there any definitive account of what happened in print? any links/info would be very much appreciated. i can't find much thanks!

Search here and at supertopo.com for yosemite plane crash 1977. Extensive threads at both places and the news of a book being worked on. There are ppl on both sites who were there but I doubt they will be saying much. Look it up it's interesting reading.

There's a bunch of info in History and Trivia forum on here, plus a couple of books losely based on that - Lynn Hill's book also talks about it. I found it fascinating too.

Just finished reading the thread on supertopo, it's a story by itself with paranoia, crazy angles, a pissed off jesus freak climbing coach and even a little Majid! Awesome read. Here's the thread for anyone with an hour or two to burn: http://www.supertopo.com/...msg=431859#msg431859

I might have a new look at it in a near future.

They made a movie about it called Cliffhanger. That is THE definitive version of events surrounding the Yosemite downed plane story. You need look no further. It is all true I swear. Oh yes, does anyone want to help me retrieve a 50 million dollar inheritance this nice man from Nigeria has promised me. All I gotta do is send him $5,000.
