The Mayor of the town of Superior, Michael Hing, who was formerly a strong supporter of this land exchange bill, recently sent letters to the Arizona Congressional delegation and to Governor Napolitano asking that consideration of the land exchange bill be delayed. Also, on August 24th, Governor Napolitano herself sent letters to the US Congressional and Senate delegations citing a number of problems she has with the current land exchange bills. Curt

Hey Curt, thanks for the message telling me to die. Ever thought of turning that around and telling yourself to STFU and DIE! Though, the death penalty would go far if they practiced it on you.. if you are so stupid as to post such posts in the first place, I can only wish the same occur to you in return, and I'd also say you are another murderer in the US. Now I wonder why the US is so unpopular in the world.. hmmmmmm. Not that it would have anything to do with prats like you that cause your own problems (said saracastically). Like I said, I feel sorry for the, 'better' Americans living among you, who have to put up with idiots like you. You're the no.1 asshole of rc.com Oh and don't bother to reply ya hear!, I won't be reading or receiving, I have better things to do with my time, unlike your silly no life little self. and fortunately for me, I won't be here again, happy to say, had I known it was a site mainly full of irritating nobodys like you, I wouldn't have lowered myself to coming here anyway, still we all make mistakes, and that was my one and only, and I couldn't expect anything better from a loser like you, so I should not have been surprised in the least.

On your more serious topic, please do print out this petition--and send it to your own U.S. Congressmen and Senators. http://www.mynewdb.com/...on2007forRCforum.pdf This is an issue involving Federal public lands and any land exchange bill will eventually be put to a vote in the full U.S. House and Senate. Hi Everybody..! Cheers -- The AMC has just announced their position has changed from neutral to being opposed to the current Land Swap Bill. They have set up an area complete with updated addresses, and a formal templete for those that want to express themselves with pencil or pen. Letters - addresses: http://www.amcaz.org/...mcActionStepsQC.html Here is their main page with a link to some additional info and their Position statement: http://www.amcaz.org/main/members.html This makes it SUPER easy for anyone to write in to the folks that need to hear from us. Email - Fax - send a letter. Be Heard...We Can Do It..! Thanks ALL -- Pheenixx

Please everyone, CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN!!! Some points about the current land exchange bill: - Queen Creek is the 2nd largest (# routes) climbing area in Arizona after Mt Lemmon, and by far the largest area within an hour drive of Phoenix. - The current bill (agreed to by FoQC) allows RCC to close off access to The Pond, Atlantis, and Upper and Lower Devils Canyon without stating a reason for doing so. Even though some of these will remain on public land, RCC will own all roads going in/out of the area. - TAMO is too far from Phoenix. We can drive to Mt Lemmon in the same amount of time. TAMO is already public land today. The state of Arizona (i.e. your taxes) is going to pay 90% of the cost to build the road, and then we will have to pay a usage/parking fee. - The copper mining activities are going to take huge amounts of water. The same water diverted to homes, resorts, and golf courses can probably generate a lot more tax revenue and jobs than the mine would. - The land exchange is not required for RCC to mine the land. It just allows them to avoid the environmental oversight process that's required to mine on public land. Arizona members of the Committee on Natural Resources are: Raul Grijalva - Tucson Jeff Flake - Mesa Anyone out of state come to visit and climb at QC? Other members of the committee are: Dale E. Kildee, Michigan Eni F.H. Faleomavaega, American Samoa Neil Abercrombie, Hawaii Solomon P. Ortiz, Texas Frank Pallone, Jr., New Jersey Donna M. Christensen, Virgin Islands Grace F. Just a brief update--this hearing did occur on November 1st and from all appearances, Congressman Grijalva held the hearing principally to expose the many existing problems with the land exchange bill. Some of those problems include the familiar climbing issues--both in the local Queen Creek area and also with the "replacement" area, Tamo, Indian opposition to the exchange, hydrology concerns, valuation questions, etc. It's difficult to be certain about anything where the political process is involved, but it seems unlikely that this bill will get much traction in the current Congress.
