Just returned from the South Prow of Kit Carson. For those of you interested, because I know several frequenters of this forum have talked about this rte., the hike in is definitely the crux. Between obscure trail, burn areas and just plain asskickin steep it makes you appreciate more sedate approaches. The climb is pretty straight forward and certainly not any harder than 5.8 (ONE MOVE) but the runouts will shake the knees of the timid. The rack suggested in MP is way more than adequate. Start up the trail on the Hua Foot Path Trail, north side of creek, Ashram on S. side although polite definitely don't want people trodding on their ground. Funny position for so-called enlightened individuals. Overall good climb. ***

Anyone in the Boulder/Denver area want to climb on Sat. morning? I'm relatively new to the area and don't care where we go. Drop me a line if you are interested!

I've heard the hike in to the Prow is the bitch of it, probably from reading MP's beta. Glad you had a good time.

Diamond on Sunday 8.12??? Or "other" route in the park?

Partners keep bailing and I really want to go do the Diamond. I may not be able to free most of the routes but I'm very solid up there. Have done 5 alpine routes this summer already.

If you are interested let me know...Thanks.

Hi. I am an all-around climber coming through for a couple days and desperately hoping to find a partner or a few partners. I will rope solo if I have too, but I don't know the crags there very well, so that's an intimidating prospect.

I can be reached better at 970 596 3807 in the next few days than by internet.

I have rope, rack, etc. Hoping for Lumpy but will do anything. Help!!

Hey cybele, I just left you a message.

All: I'm traveling and in Denver right now, staying for a few days with a flaming firefighter friend ;-) .... I'm looking for partners for Eldo Tues/Weds/ish. I lead 5.8-9, follow to mid 10, have rack/ropes and experience. I'd love to knock off the Bastille Crack (of course) and go from there.

Well, so as not to be a liar online, I will publically declare myself semi-worthless at this time! I can truly say that I am super solid technically --- but alas, my climbing is very weak right now. I have a lousy cold and too much personal stress! Thanks J for coming out; you seem to be a cool-headed and solid leader.

Hi:
Looking for someone to scamper up a Flatiron or two (or something similarly mellow in Eldo, Boulder Canyon, Lumpy, or whatever) on 8/29 or 8/31. I may not have online access between 8/25 and 8/27 or so (I will be driving out from Boston), so if you're trying to reach me then just call 401-935-4131.
Cheers,
David

If anyone wants to join me for some easier bouldering (V0/V1) Saturday of the long weekend, 11ish but negotiable, let me know. I'll be happy to spot you on harder stuff and work it as well, but I'm aiming for easier stuff personally. Easier to email me offsite if you really want to catch me. :) Be safe this weekend!

Hi all. I have just recently moved to Denver and I am looking for some partners. I have some time to climb on Sunday and I would like to head up to the Flat Irons for a lap or two if practical. I plan on bringing my double 70ms to combine some pitches and make rapping off more breezy. Anyone know if you can rap Iron #3 with 70m doubles?

Anyway, I am beginner friendly, very conservative, and I am willing to take on two seconds if you and a partner want to join in on the fun. I am also willing to follow up to 5.10b, but lets keep it trad for now.

I am also interested in visiting the silver cascade slab if you are down in the co springs area.

cheers.
-chris

I am wondering if anyone would like to take a newb under their wing and teach me how to trad lead. I live in Ft. Collins and would need a ride to climb. I have gear aka all passive rack and rope

I am attending CSU and I am looking for a mentor to teach me trad and hopefully big wall. I feel comfortable to climb mid 5.9.

To answer my own question. 70m doubles reach the bottom in 1. I think with 2 60ms you would come up about 10 feet short.

I'm assuming you are talking about rapping directly off the back side in 1 rap...not down the rap route.

2, 60M ropes will get you to the base if you want to do it that way.

However it's hardly worth carrying an extra rope up there when there is an easy and solid rap route that will get you down with 1 50M rope.

If you have an extra rope due to multiple partners...knock yourself out!

Dude, we so should have traversed over to the Dirty Deed rappels last Thursday. We had two ropes, man. It would have been sooooo sweet.
