how thoughtful of you, i am imagining doing pullups in my head right now b/c if i tried to do them on my el cheapo dorm room door frames they would fall off or break, oh well friday will be here eventually and i will be headed home to climb, oh yeah and to work, did i tell yall, i am working again, but only on saturdays.
and to answer your question i don't know where this is going but i hope it ends up like one of those 600 something posts, pointless, laughable forums.

You like laughable threads with lots of posts? I know of one very laughable thread that has upwards of 26,000 posts you could get in on....

I'm with those that encourage you to broaden your number of partners. You can still climb with this partner in the gym, and outside with someone else. One of my friends isn't into multipitch traditional climbs. I've repeatedly asked him to come along and just second, but he's nervous and hesitant. I've decided to not force the issue and just climb with him when our interests match.

It's funny that he perceives climbing outside as being more dangerous than the gym. I might explain the typically smaller crowds at the crag, the redundancy and strength of the anchoring system, etc. That said, some folks are more of a danger to themselves outside than indoors, and some people aren't safe anywhere.

It is not your typing, it's your thought process.

This is not a representation of the future of climbing.

8 years ago I was dating a chinese girl so one day we went for TR 101 intro at our local crag. Days before our climbing adventure, she said
" You strong man , you strong man"

Then we went TRing and as soon she got of the ground she said;

You dangerous man, you crazy man , go down go down".

I never saw her again after that day

Damn my internet search skills. Damn them!

Okay, Zionvier. Get a nut tool, and get Mondays off. Find a partner with an ample rack willing to help with your build-a-rack project. Now hit popular traditional crags the day after every major weekend storm. Your goal isn't climbing, my friend. It's booty.

Guccipiggy, you're responsible for cobbling together the martini bar. Any spot in the back yard will be fine. We'll rearrange some plate systems and start working on the mountain.

The request line is now closed.

Here's a newsflash: The reluctant gym partner is absolutely correct: climbing outside IS more dangerous than climbing in the gym.

Convincing him or her otherwise would by lying, but it is unlikey that anyone with a modicum of sense could be pursuaded that there is no increase in danger in moving to an activitiy in which so much more can go catastrophically wrong.

Climbing isn't dancercise, it has some real risks, and people shouldn't be talked into taking those risks without a clear understanding of what they are.

Wow... Just wow!

I leave for a weekend and get robbed blind.

As an update for all who actually care, (and I think it's just me at this point.) I think I convinced him to go Outside. I have a few friends I met through him, that don't really climb as much and I told him that they were interested in going . I think that he's going to tag along too... Thank God for Peer Pressure!!! And the Rack. Even though You didn't give me the rack and mountain in my back yard... And It's my thread. What's up with that.

Anyway, thanks for the help.....I Think
