as i have stated before most of our clientel are noobs, but we do go over our rules, belay test and intro to climbing, but we usually don't discuss the rating of a route with first time walk ins b/c they don't really care, most only climb the wall not the route, and usually the easy stuff.

Sorry, I'm not going to wade through your prior posts to see if you've discussed something before.

Procedurally, why not tell people how they can easily identify sections with appropriate routes? It sounds like at least one of your clients was looking for that information on his own. I agree many won't stick to specific routes, but it gives them a starting point. I don't get it.

no i am not a dude i have some climbing pictures if you want some proof, but of course that won't be enough because i could have gotten them anywhere right. well remember how i told you about the whole ankle injury thing i have pictures of that and stuff, here i will try to send them.

I'm unconvinced. The second shot was way too small to see anything. I blew it up and this is what I got:

dlintz : climbordie7 is a woman, freshman in college if I remember correctly from another thread.

To me a dumb question is one that is asked one way and in the persons head they thought they were asking something completely different.

Q: "What is that for?" (while pointing at the coil of rope)
A: "To save your ass when you fall"

but they actually were trying to ask "Where/how does the rope get tied to the harness?"

edit: wrote threat instead of thread.... oops.

okay your kind of right but also not, the guy asked if the rope color determined the difficulty of the wall, this is very hard to determine because a wall has many different ways to go up besides one designated route, but comparing a childs wall to the hardest wall in our gym is a little absurd in my opinion. although he may not have noticed that both of these walls had the same color rope, if that was the case then his question wasn't so wrong, but we only have two different colors for the ropes in our gym and they switch out with the color next to them. when someone does ask what the hardest wall is i can tell them and when we go over belay tests we usually point out the walls that are easy and intermediate and hard.

I was at the gym once and watched a woman and her man get belay instructions.
While he was climbing in toprope, she called me over quietly and asked, "I totally forgot, how do I take again?"
I quickly told her and then informed the instructor, who came over, backed up the belay, and then gave them another round of instructions.
Another prime moment was bouldering, and one of the Noobs I was with asked, "So, do I hold this pad up in the air to catch your fall, or what?"

I like this question. I think it may be very deep. "Old ladies" may know a thing or two about life that you at 18 don't.

I like how most rock climbers in the world never learned what they know now they have just always known it and therefor never a newbie.

By this statement, I'm guessing I know a bit more about life than you do jackass

well i am sure it is considered fun for someone who parties, goes out clubbing, and drinks all the time...\
i don't do any of that stuff, i study, i get to class early, i work hard, although i may change it to 5 years later, if i need more time and if i decide to have a double major as a second in kinesiology. that would rock. the only fun i have is when i go home on the weekend, or do my extracuriculars.

right now i have an infestation of roaches in my dorm room, i was in the shower when i noticed what looked like hair moving around in the faucet i bent down and realized it was the antenna of a huge roach, i hate roaches more than any other bug, i would rather be in the midst of a poisonous spider than a roach. for some reason they freak me out.

Ah the Prom... we dropped four tabs each on the limo ride there. That was one hell of night... acid, sex, booze... I turned a bottle of honey shaped like a bear into a bong... oh and we had whole case of whipits! Good times, good times...

So how much drugs did you do?? You're in the midwest so I bet it was mostly crank and meth, right? I'm sure you had a blast.

You're going to look back on your experiences and regret that you didn't fully enjoy your time there. College/University isn't strictly for book smarts. It's supposed to make you well rounded, that's why english majors have to take math, music majors have to take astronomy, etc. But besides the book learning it's a development in social interaction as well. It's a way to learn to balance your life, how much can I go out and still fulfill my class requirements, get enough sleep, etc. If you're not having fun while at school, you're going to miss out on one of the greatest eras of your life.

In the end when you go to get a job, they don't care what your gpa was. Companies put as much or more emphasis on the type of person they hire as they do the kind of degree they have. You may have 2 PhDs in your field but if you don't "fit in" with the people you'll work with you won't be getting that job. So the social interaction you get from going to those college parties is actually good for you (as long as you don't flunk out because of it)

Yes, I did all those things yes and still managed to complete a BS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, so it can be done.

No one ever said that you can't party, hang out, climb and do well in college.

I think many on this site will agree.

BTW if you need to study 24/7 for a degree in Kinesiology....

I don't think I need to say anything there.
