I'm looking to spend a few months climbing, and am looking for the cheapest place to live that has good climbing. I really have no plans yet so I'm open to anything. I will also be traveling on my own so I'll need to find a partner wherever I end up. Thanks

ok... I know it's not europe, but I think you would be hard pressed to find a cheaper place to go than Thailand. Climbing around Krabi is incredible - in the off season you can get a hut for $4 a day (with bathroom) and eat for... about $6 a day... Sorry I can't suggest a european destination

Cheap in Europe is hard...one way or another to get to good spots you usually need a car. W/o a car you can stay i.e. in Chamonix and do alpine living from a tent, but than again have to pay at least the benne to go up...Crimea in Ukraine is a wild and rather cheap destination...Otherwise if you live on water and crumbles, southern France has awesome climbing...difficult choices - you have to narrow it a bit for yourself, but in conclusion developing countries are cheaper than W Europe.

Sorry I can't suggest a european destination tell me more about that spot...whats the rock there like and what season is best Hi Miademus, I'm sure there are better people on this forum to answer questions, but 5 years ago I spent a couple of weeks climbing around Pra Nang beach on the west coast of Thailand. The rock is pocketed limestone, most climbing is sport climbing, but since many cliffs come right out of the sea, then there is a bunch of deep water soloing too. In my (limited) experience there are several guide companies operating out of both Ao Nang and Pra Nang beach. I was there in June or July IIRC and it was in the middle of monsoon. But climbing was still fun and possible in the mornings. Just need to be off the rock by about 2pm. It cost me about 4 bucks a night for a bungalow with private shower (cold water only) and bathroom per night because it was off season. I'm must be twice that by now..... Food was great Thai food that was pretty cheap, dispite the resort enironment. I think I was living under $20 per day, and was quite comfortable. HTH
