[open book copy.jpg]Being brand new to the forum/club I thought I'd start with a picture of Open Book at Tahquitz, the name of the climb being apropro somewhat to a new member. Anyway, I've been doing climbing photography for a few months now and am especially new to the digital realm including photoshop. I did the basic sharpening (unsharp mask) and some dodging and burning. Any hints, critiques, tricks, or outright panning much appreciated. Thanks.

I mostly wanted to embed the image into the thread as I'm half way ouf the door from work, but a few quick comments:

i) Nice shot overall; good composition... unfortunately, the jpeg compression gave the climber a bit of a nose job, so without clarity in the face I feel like I'm missing out on the full impact of the image.

ii) you have a slight red/ yellow shift

iii) looks a touch flat

iv) you could probably tone down the background.

thanks for the thoughtful critique Kris9tails. Yeah, I noticed it sort of got bleached out when I compreesed it down. That or my monitor is way off (12 inch powerbook). So, if anyone has time to explain the proper way to download images into the clubhouse so to speak I would be gratefull for sure. Also looks like all the work in photoshop was for naught. None of the dodge and burn came through to my eyes.

Thanks again...
