Does anyone know what the possibility is of getting corns or other foot problems from cramming our feet into climbing shoes?

I can't give you a statistical number per foot injury but it's very likely.

I see lots of climbers with corns on multiple toes.

Tight shoes can also cause bunions.

Not to mention that some people eventually get hammer toes, which can become pretty serious if the climber ignores the early signs. (WHAT?! NOT CLIMBERS!!) I read a story by a female climber who developed hammer toes so badly (even after being told to stop wearing her shoes so tightly) that eventually her doctor told her she was going to lose some of her toes if she did not desist. By that point she had multiple open sores. Not common, but it's possible.

So, are bunions and other alike foot injuries common place among senior climbers (those who have climbed most their lives)?

No, but I can tell you that my bunion, which started long before I began to climb (despite the fact that I am either barefoot or in wide flat shoes ALL the time), hurts like a mf when I take my shoe off. It feels like someone is breaking my entire foot as my big toe bone s...l..o..w...ly goes back to its usual mashed over position and there is a nice hot bright red glow over the bunion bump.
On the bright side..to all those kind people who advised me to wait 8 weeks for my broken ribs to heal...I couldn't wait, I waited six, climbed easy in the gym for two weeks and just came back from a glorious weekend in Vermont!

My chronic foot problem lies with the balls of my feet. I guess it's from assuming the usual climbing posture and remaining that way for hours on end. My right foot will often go numb and when I do long hikes the pain is horrible. Here I've been avoiding high heels most my life and yet I've got the same symptoms as those women who wear Prada! Ugh! Crazy
