I have been googling campgrounds around vegas for a climbing trip me and some buddies are planning in the spring. Cant seem to find anything for tent camping on the net yet. If anyone has any adderesses or websites that would help me out please post. Also directions to some crags would be sweet to ; )

13 mile campground in Red Rocks canyon on Blue Diamond road. 2 miles east of the Scenic Drive entrance state route 159. Call the Red Rocks Visitor center for reservations.

i've already told you this twice- there's ONE campground for Red Rock- the Red Rock Canyon Campground (formerly the 13 mile campground). It's two miles east of the loop road on the 159 (Charleston blvd). It's your only camping option when you come here.

if you're going to vegas, might as well stay in a hotel and go see a Cirque show or go far enough into the desert that you're on BLM land (I like the camping at the area once called Mecca - but that's 1.5 hours away at least).

It was a pretty sweet dive. Of course, it's not as cheap as camping at 13 mile, but it's only $60 a night. Pile in 6 or 8 of your stinkiest climbing buddies and the price is negligible.
It's all about the Bonnie Burger at the restaurant and the weird menagerie of animals all over the place. Having a secure place to keep your gear is cool, and not waking up in the morning with sand in your teeth is even better.

Bonnie Springs is an interesting place. Nothing says backcountry like a purple electric fireplace. Waking up to the sounds of weird, out of place birds... priceless. It's relatively cheap and comfortable and close to the loop road. There is a restaurant and bar there too.

Cool! I like the place I'm staying at better though. Monthy rate, washer and dryer, fully equiped kitchen, 25 minutes from RR.

Goto Travelworm.com they have great hotel deals for vegas. You can get a room for 30 ro 40 bucks a night.

I go to Vegas once or twice a year for climbing. In fact I am going next week. I always stay at Arizona Charlies Decatur which is off of West Charleston about 10-15 minutes from the park. There is also a Walmart accross the street where we load up on food, water and other supplies. I am paying $227 for 5 nights which includes a weekend. As far as gambling goes I never have time as we are usually hiking into a climb in the dark and hiking out in the dark. You can get great cheap food in Vegas as well as top end fare. I usually get steak and eggs for for breakfast for $2.99. When i go climbing away from home it is a vacation, i don't want to be sleeping on the ground in some windy dusty campground. A nice hot shower with clean linens and a bathroom is all I ask. If you start looking for a hotel a few days before a trip you will be hard pressed to find a great deal, but if you plan ahead you can certainly get a hotel room and save allot of money. if I want to camp then I will go on a backpacking vacation. After a hard day of climbing I would much rather be comfortable an spend a few bucks on a hotel then spend a restless night in a desolate campground, which isn't all that cheap.

Fair enough, I was thinking one of the places closer to the strip since you said cirque show, but yeah, you can get a nice rate out there and those cheapo breakfasts to boot!
I hope you enjoy your trip, the weather is absolutely stunning at the moment.

Just stayed there this weekend and had the Bonnie Burger to boot! I "splurged" for a kitchen room. It was perfect for the 4 of us. We even had a peacock on the back porch when we woke up.

You almost had me sold til you mentioned the peacock. Do they do the screaming in the middle of the night like someone is getting murdered? Jolts you awake and leaves you lying there in a cold sweat, thinking "it was just the peacocks... it was just the peacocks".

Actually the loudest thing there was my climbing partner who snores like a freight train. I did not hear any peacock's screaming but that may be because I had a pillow over my head. Don't expect the Ritz but it was a step up from the campground and had hot showers. I would eat in Blue Diamond at BJs Brewpub. It was not too spendy and the food was good.
