http://www.climbing.com/...ltales/ellaanorexic/ 7-Month-old sends Flagstaff V7 Story and photos by Kyle Roseborrough October, 2007 — Infant Ella Roseborrough of Flagstaff, Arizona (age 7 months) sent the Priest Draw classic Anorexic (V7) on her 4th try. Her proud parents were there to offer moral support, Beta and to provide a spot. Ella has learned that her 28" frame has her at a slight disadvantage, however she's overcome this with raw power. Her ascent has caused much doubt and controversy in the Arizona climbing community by disbelieving locals. When locals recently questioned her about the send, she only said "Blah, blah, gooool". Her parents translated it to "It was pretty cool, but it's no harder than V5".

I think the dad runs urbanclimber.tv, so if any ascent was ever videoed, this was it.

I understand posting this on April 1st or even March 31st but October? It seems more like an inside joke, a jab at Flag, a riff on 8a.nu rabidly reporting on the next youngster clinging to rock with fingers fresh from the womb, or all of the above. At any rate, I like satire but it needs to have a context. It's funny in the Onion because they always do this sort of stuff (for example (climbing related): http://www.theonion.com/content/node/33194). When it just appears randomly it reeks of inside joke-ish-ness, which is just lame.

They're all friends, and they write about their friends. That's why they aren't very good.

Gee Beav, You just ain't got no sense of humor!! Might just have to report you to Captain Kangaroo!! That kid's a dynamo (not to mention that it's a crawling shot pasted to the V7 problem). Made me laugh out loud. Keep it up kid-you'll go far.

If it is a jab at Flag, I think it's plenty funny. I understand that Anorexic is a trade route for the local pebble-pullers. But my guess is, they were just trying to be cute with the overall climbing culture and not posting something that needs to be read into (I also suspect it's just a silly online thing and nothing that will come up in print). Maybe it's just me being a girl of child-bearing age but I think it's cute, not lame for any reason. A couple issues ago, former (?) user climberchic and her husband sent them a gut-wrenchingly cute photo of their baby "reading" an issue, and that was actually printed in letters. I hope nobody thought that was lame. Can't we just aww at the babies?

This thread is effectively a 1-question IQ test that divides the population into two groups based on a cutpoint of about 50. So far, the percentage of users falling into the IQ<50 group is alarmingly, though predictably, high. Jay
