Interesting barefoot free solo video:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dRSRsO9QbQc

Now, questions for the historians among us:

What was the name of route?
When was this video taken?

Is it "Opéra vertical" from roughly 1981/82?

As said above, the movie is "Opera Vertical" (other extracts of that movie are on YouTube).
The route is in the Verdon Gorge and is called "Debilof". Used to be French grade 6c+ (20 years ago). Don't know what it's rated at today.

Cheers

Hmmm, I guess soloing 6c+ barefoot means you can wear any damn thing you want. Gotta love the 80s.

Edited to add these guys -TongueAngelic- as a preemptive strike against those who dont have the whole humar thing figured out yet.

I climbed with Patrick back in the mid 80s
on one of his trips to America. The guy is an amazing climber. I saw him lead, "More Monkey than funkey, then downclimb and clean it, and then he turned around and soloed it!
You don't hear very much about Patrick anymore
in the climbing news, but back in the 80s, he was in the climbing mags all the time.

There is also a photo of me in his book, called"Rock Games"

Post up CC man! Post it! Post it! Post it!

Edlinger was the man. There was another video of him fee soloing (with shoes) another long sick Verdon classic @ 15 years back. You damn near have t chalk up to get the sweat off your palms as you watch it.

Bacher use to do that to me too. You'd be thinking "Holy shit" as you stood by and waited and watched him downclimb your testpiece of the day so he could walk over and ascent the next, REALLY difficult route.

Hey Billcoe;

It's not that great of a photo, It's just a photo of Patrick, me, and a couple of my friends at gunsmoke.

On a side note; Did you climb with John B back in the 80s? If so maybe I knew you, as I climbed and
partied with him a bit back then.
