Hi, I'm taking a friend (outdoor) climbing next week and was wondering if there's somewhere that rents shoes, either near berkeley, walnut creek or san jose.

most outdoor shops have shoe rentals. i'm not sure about the big ones like REI. Get a phone book and make some phone calls.

thanks, but I've called all places I can think of (about 7-8. big and small) and no one is renting or knows of anyone who rents...

yeah, none of them want to let their shoes go outside.
but, we found a pair to borrow from a friend, so problem solved.

outdoor exchange, or sports exchange, can't remember the name,
it's on san pablo in berkeley a block down from REI rents climbing shoes.
