I always pratice "Leave No Trace". If we, the real climbers, don't take care of our areas, then when those who are just 'passing through' on the newest climbing rage leave the sport, they will also leave us with a bad name.

Someone has to do it and I for one am not too proud to pick up other peoples trash.

I cleared about 2 plastic shopping bags full of trash out of Indian Cove last weekend, must have been from idiot campers cause the climbers I saw all had their own little bags of garbage they kept. It is becoming more of a chore to clean up after a climb these days. Some people just have no respect for their surroundings. It pains me to see things that way, but maybe the few that do give a damn can do us all a favor and PACK THEIR TRASH. It takes all of 2 seconds to stick it in your bag until you get to a garbage can. Cheers!

If you're climbing an orange tree maybe not. Pack it in pack it out. The strangest thing I picked up was an empty Blockbuster Video micro-wave pop corn bag on a rough 4 hour in hike into the Monashee range. Musta been a job hauling the micro-wave.

Lover's Leap today:

1 full but opened can of Pepsi
1 cigarette butt
1 piece of climbing tape

Oh, but my partner picked up a powerbar wrapper out of a crack at the start of pop bottle.

Not too bad on the whole.

always. its been habit my whole life to pack out MORE than i pack in. my goal is to always leave a place, whether a campsite or the boulders, cleaner than when i found it...

on a side note: access fund cleanup is this weekend in bishop at the happies on saturday and the milks on sunday. hope to see some folks come out...were working a party in the pit for afterwards on friday. BYOB i would imagine...

Todays Collection: a bottle of water, 2 tooth brushes, a wrap of tape (all 3 previous listings obvious climber trash), a pull tab from some kind of beer can, and two wrappers.

The quest continues....

calling all malibu creek climbers!

as i'm sure you all know, malibu creek (especially the rock pool area) is a dumping ground for the mindless partiers and families that gather there every weekend.

i always carry a trash bag with me, and it's never very difficult or time consuming to fill it. even better, the rangers have trash cans at many areas within the park making it easy to dispose of your collection without having to haul it back to the car.

when there's this much trash lying around you will have a noticeable impact by picking up each time you visit. more than this the rangers have noticed climbers doing this and it can only improve their image of us and our activities.

jump on the bandwagon and lets see what we can do out there.

I had to go back to my car to get a bag the other day because some dip wad left a whole black bag of garbage there and it broke open so my partner and I took 20 min to clean it up.

Last time our group went to the loval crag. Our coach told us to pick up two pieces of trash while we were leaving. We gotta do this so it does not look like us climbers are abusing the enviorment.

Always. Especially at kinda messy spots here in LA where there's not a lot of people with this mindset (i.e. Stony.). I always end up leaving with a decent bag of wrappers, plastic bottles, etc. And cig butts.

Well it wasn't today, but I picked up a several corona beer bottles from a local boulder field. The sad thing is that this friday night there will be dozens more, due to the high schoolers always partying up there.

Well, I've picked up the ussual trash and disgarded gear (old slings)...

..but my most memorable find was dog crap.

It was in two plastic bags tied to a tree.

I can see why someone would leave it to come back to it later. But if they were going to leave it than why bag it at all?
