Isn't Utah the Beehive state?
Um, if it's wasps or hornets, feel free. If it's honeybee's, i'm not sure.
I have no good reason for the honeybee thing. However, most people consider wasps and hornets to be pests, and (as a former Utahan), we disposed of plenty of nests around our home when I was a kid...

Hey bro remember that stuff we used at your place wth like a 20' shot of stuff, that stuff worked great. I hope its ok to do out there since those stupid bees are still on the back of Stoney sucks.
You should probably list the area your talking about.

hmmm...I hate to say you should (one should never destroy wildlife), but let me tell you of an experience I had with climbing and hornets. You see, I have a rather strong allergic reaction to stings. I was climbing around on a little outcropping near my house and found out that no, it's not a chockstone, it's a nest . Fortunately I was only stung twice, but that was enough to start my reaction (which sucks).
I came back the next day and destroyed the nest; there are people with far stronger reactions than mine and such an encounter could easily proved fatal for them.
If you feel it poses a serious risk to climbers (mind you, some people can actually die from a single sting) then go ahead and destroy it. If it isn't really on a route and can be avoided, then let it be. Be sure to consult whatever local authority is incharge of the area, should you chose to act, of course.

you shouldnt have to ask if you should destory a wasp nest. Get that long range RAID stuff and blast the hail outta it!

Rumor has it that there are thousands of outstanding problems in Utah with out hornet nests on them. How 'bout you do all of those first before you start killing stuff? How 'bout you waiting untill the wasps leave before you climb these couple problems?
And by the way, the bees at Stoney Point are cool.

um, i see no problem wiht killing bees, unless u are a freak tree hugger or somehting. i am against destroying nature, but bee-lieve me (hehe) there are plenty of bees to go around that no one will miss one or two (or one or two hundred) nests. the allergy point is a good one. bees suck. kill them. climb on.

I have an alergic reaction to stings too. But I do not feel the need to kill bees and wasps on some climb when there are many lifetimes worth of climbing with no bees or wasps on them.
It just seems selfish. Especially since these are wasps and they will move on later in the season.

My guy is 6'1 200 lbs and cranks HARD but one little itty bitty bee can KILL him!!!!
He got stung once and 10 minutes later he couldn't breath

I say, aslong as you use a flame thrower. The shear coolness of the act should out wiegh any silly enviromental laws (and more importantly any guilt). I can just see that shot as a featured photo!!!! DO IT MAN I WILL BIULD YOU A FLAME THROWER !!

I suppose but hair spray has WEAK range. 91 or 99 percent pure rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle set for stream tends to work quite well.
if your going for the cheap way out.....
But remember you get out of life what you put in. If you put a can of hairspray in when the job really calls for a WWII era flame thrower. You may not like the results.
