If I wanted to see professional photos of climbers doing way sicker stuff then I will ever do, then I'd buy Climbing Magazine. I like coming to rockclimbing.com so I can see amateur pics of weekend warriors like me struggling up 9's and 10's. So can we keep the professional photos off the front page please?

I by far prefer snaphots of climbers taken by climbers to the glossy productions and over processed bullshit that often passes for art amongst photogs. However there have been some great pro shots posted here and some damn fine amateur ones too. The women of the Red River Gorge come to mind. But I almost never click on an image here, for any reason. Photos, like old rock and roll, don't really interest me unless they were taken of or by my friends and so forth. Cheers DMT

I like to see good photos on the fp. A few pro shots now and then is neat. We've been seeing a lot of exotic rock on there and I like it. I also like the good shots posted by weekenders. ANd some blurry gym shots with great transition and momentum too. Ultimately the power is in your hand though, you can vote the ones you like high, and bomb the ones you don't want to see.

Hmmmmm, a system where Any one can contribute, then any one else can vote on what was contributed, therefore elevating it to the front page.sounds interesting.Geee that sound almost democratic. Then along comes some one else, whining and crying that every one on the front page isn't just like him/her self. ' I dont want to see pros, I just want to see weekend warriors like me' Dude stop whining or move to a red state and or practice your sig no disrespect intended C

I'll bet the tall guy on he right is the group's "expert," like, he walks around giving advice, does pullups on the white 5.7 jugs, and this weekend he's even going to make it outside to tr the 5.7 roadcut! 4 chicks, a tattoo and only one male friend to c*ck block him: he is also going to get laid. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Technically, Simon Carter submitted the shots I think you're talking about for an article. That they're in the FP rotation is a byproduct of, one, him having to host them here for the article and, two, direct user feedback (votes). Personally, I think there's plenty FP space to go 'round.

I'm not saying that Simon Carter's pics aren't super amazing and all, but I like seeing normal climbing photos on the front page too. When I had a photo on the front page (not by choice), everyone posted comments saying it was shit, but there is a middle ground- neat pics from normal climbers & their friend's with cameras. Let's get back to those on the front page!!

I agree. Those pro photos are cool, but amatuer shots on the front page are better.

Dear RC.com, Please make things right again. I agree with the op. May I suggest that photos from professional photographers be displayed separately from your common plebe, like me. Guys like Simon Carter take remarkable photos (and some of my all time favorites) but their addition don't really add to your "photos" section. You gained some remarkable images but lost the quirkiness that I enjoyed. I know that I can sort through the photos but I liked looking at the collage of the "best" photos. I love seeing shots of climbing misfits, sherpa dogs, local babes, routes I can climb, and belayers from the passenger seats. Please restore the photo section back to its original state. Took this shot while hiking back from the Religion Wall. Anyone know the name of the route that climbs the prow in the distance?
