With Valentines I wondered if anyone else besides me had any rock romances go bad. I've had great times climbing when romance was involved too! But I've been ditched in the middle of the desert with no ride! At city of rocks so it wasn't so bad! I even got a ride eventually!Unsure

All rock climbing romances have happy endings. Your story is a lie.

OOHHH!!! Now you have to tell the whole story! Inquiring minds want to know! What did you do to get ditched in the desert?

What didn't I do might be a better ? . Or maybe it was the 10+ slab climb or the 9 trad route, maybe my pals. It could just of been my charming wyoming personality that she disgusted. My pals still bring it up when they need a good laugh!

I was born and raised in Wyoming. I learned quickly that 98% of the women in the world are dateable.

The other 2% live in Wyoming.

10+ slab would have been a dream date. Only I would have made him follow my lead.

I had a girlfriend who hated climbing cracks. and I mean HATED. trips to Indian Creek, my favorite crag, were miserable, and would commonly end in tears.

I was constantly going out of my way to cater to her, looking for moderates, facey climbs, once we even left the Creek to go to Shelf Road! (lame, ick!)

it made me think of the Incubus lyric "to bad the things that make you mad are my favorite things."

Anyway, now I've got a way radder gf who enjoys cracks, and all other climbing, and we climb pretty much at the same level. much better, now.

I hooked up with a gal at JT and bailed on my friends so I could take her up some easy climbs. Afterwards, we went back to my campsite and she proceeded to repay me with a BJ. As I neared my happy ending, my friends returned and barged into my tent. The chick flipped out and ran out of my tent without a shirt, trying to hide her face from the rest of the gawking Hidden Valley campers. My pals and I were rolling on the ground laughing for the rest of the night. (What else was I going to do? Chase after her!?) I never saw her again.

Here I am thinking I was the only one... Luckily my friends bailed me out (and I had hell of an extra day of climbing to boot).

When I climbed Castleton a few years back, I read the summit log from the previous two months. On a particular day in April I saw the following entry (extra exclamation points omitted for clarity):

"Met Mercedes (from PARAGUAY!) in the parking lot. Did Kor-Ingalls in excellent time. BEST SUMMIT BLOW JOB EVER!"

I found this hilarious first because the capitalization and punctuation led me to imagine this completely stoned guy penciling this in with his pants around his ankles, and second because it rather ominously implied that he'd other, less than satisfactory blowjobs to compare to the one from his newfound Paraguay paramour. Given the people I encountered on Castleton that day, it led to some rather interesting mental images. It occurs to me that it was so over the top (and the summit of Castleton so small) that this was almost assuredly a joke, but it made me laugh nonetheless.
