Two ten footers:one on a .75 camalot, the other on a yellow wild country.

Not impressive

i took a 30 footer onto a bent halfway sticking out knifeblade on the kingfisher near moab this weekend. wee little clymbr_chk held the fall beautifully, and i can't believe the KB held. true it was aid climbing, but it would have been 60 feet for sure if the KB blew.

thanks amber!

edit for drunken typos.

Took a forty foot traversing whipper onto a number 7 BD stopper. My feet killed after slamming into the dihedral that quickly ended the pendulum part of my fall.

I fell soloing a mixed route in the Rockies, slid down to a ledge, no pain, just ripped my clothes apart.

My friend beats me though. We were trying to get a FA of a mixed ice trad route. He whipped from the ice, pulled his gear out of the crack, hit the ledge beside me and kept sliding down headfirst, backwards down the first pitch of ice. His one tool was holstered, I am surprised that it didn't cut into his back. His very first piece, a number 4 stopper hammered into a crack held. THat was sweet. I have fallen onto my ice tools before when holstered and that effing kills.

My acquatance belayed a 100 ft multiple ledge fall last week. THat is scary.

Man, trad climbing is stupid, I love it though.

On that note...

I think I'll take up bouldering.

rrradam..yellow alien ..thats a belay anchor in and of itself.

best I can offer is 25' on a blue alien in a shallow horizontal.

the best I held was multiple lead falls (15') on the 1 and 2 hb offsets opposed in a horizontal..the peice below the #1 lowe ball.

I took a fall on three small wires probably #1 and #2 bd stoppers. All of those ripped but thankfully there was a #3 camalot that stopped my fat *ss. A routine 10' fall turned into a thirty footer.

Not much of a challenge to others posts, but I took a 10-12 foot fall on a 0.5 WC Friend at Tallulah Gorge.

After that, I suddenly found a new respect for small gear.

Best,

I took a 20' grounder on a BD #6 stopper. The nut held and was catching me as I hit the ground, undoubtably saved my but from serious injury. I have cleaned lots of booty nuts and take pride in my cleaning skills, but I thought I would NEVER get that #6 out, that baby was SET!!

600 footer onto 8 equalized #1 heads in sandstone of course, during a rain storm, and I had to walk uphill to get back to the car. hehe

60' on yellow alien. 40+ on yellow alien, 30+ to the deck (no alien), a handful of 30+ on everything from green aliens to yellow (2") cams. Another handful of 20+ on everything from tiny brass peanuts to full size hexes. But my all time classic is the 40' over an old stiff 1" friend in a bad horizontal placement that snapped the neck in half (really bad placement) and sent me for an additional 10'. I spent the next 6 months learning as much as I could about placing gear and have never remotely come near to having an incident like that since.

My buddy took a 20 footer onto a .5 Alien. Both cables on one side snapped and all four lobes deformed, but it held the fall!

One time I caught a 40 ft. great white shark on #2 dental floss in the south sea. It bit one of my legs, but I managed to retreive it with a life preserver and glue it back on with rubber cement and chewing gum.

Oh yeah, well I had a hangnail once and I scratched the inside of my nose when I was picking it.

Probably good advice Shakylegs (great nik by the way), but most of the whippers didn't happen because of stressin' from the runout. Prior to a crux I place a couple bomber pieces and then push through. The big whippers happened when I was first starting out (stupid really) or rock break, etc. but also I tend to run it out on overhangs because it's just air time. If you can't trust the gear, why place it. You ain't climbin' unless you're flyin'

fell 30 feet to the deck, cracked my head open, bled all over, stopped the blood, hiked about three miles to the car. I wasn't even really a climber then, I was just intrigued by this cliff while I was hiking. Tried to down climb, didn't work.I started rock climbing for real about six months after this incident. What the hell is wrong with me?
