I'm headed to Mt. Lemmon in Tucson in April. Can anyone recommend a good camp sight with close proximity to a good crag?

Thanks

there's camping all the way up the mountain...most are pay sites with water and latrines, but there are a few primitive sites

we paid at a campground about halfway up...just a short drive to all the crags

There is a lot of nice enough free camping if you look around. You might have a longer walk to latrines and will have to drive to get to water, but the pay camping there seemed overpriced to me. Ask around and find the free spots.

I don't remember any names, but the place I ended up at was <10 minute walk from the visitors center (water and such) and an even shorter drive. And it was at the trail-head for some of the climbing spots, too.

Great place, have fun!

Before you get to rose canyon lake, look for a road going left. There is private property there, but some public as well. Munchkinland and wall of the trundling trolls are near.

I was there this summer. Have some incredible stuff compared to what I'm used to (RRG).
You can get a map of Mt. Lemmon and/or guide books and possibly some good advice at The Summit Hut outfitter store downtown Tucson.
