Ma that's a big bummer. It feels pretty bad to have a sudden end to a season. You definitely have my sympathy.

It must have been an interesting fall to break the femur before blowing out the knee. Though I'm sure it's more painful, let's hope it means you will have a better long term recovery prospect as you pointed out.

As Ski Patrol, do they give you hare traction splints to use for those situations? Or do they do something else before putting you into the sled? I've always wondered.

Anyway, good luck.

i believe she said fibula.

Whoops, you're right. Then I suppose you wouldn't need the hare traction splint either then!

OK, the fibula. But unfortunately that means minus 1 point on the sympathy scale. Wink

take back your sympathy then, it was still no joy ride in the back of a litter going down a 45 degree slope.

Shoulda had the drugs, then take control, and sled down the hill with you steering. Coulda been more fun anyhow.
Sorry though.
I have a friend who got a chopper ride out of the gunks. He was pissed cause they wouldn't let him sit up to see the view.Crazy

Awwwww, ((((((Marge))))))

Sorry to read about your accident! Get well soon and give me a call if you ever need a ride down with the RC.com post patrol (like ski patrol, but I am qualified to give full service on the scene.)

gotcha

hope your ski season is going well. haven't heard from shorty these days, wonder if he did his usual heli skiing trip.

update: i am now in a cast. the er doc didn't cast yesterday, but my gp recommended a cast. I saw the xrays, the break was in two pieces almost compound and there was a pice of bone in the shape of a butterfly almost broked off from the fibula. definitely feels better to be immobilized

hope you get around alright, I presume you'll be on crutches and not a walking cast with that type of injury.

No surgery to clean it up? no hardware to keep things in place? This is good.

oo you brought edgie out of the wood work.. thats impressive ;)
Fx. definitely faster come back than something torn you did get the lesser of 2 evils

This may seem funny.. but you should do some leg exercises with the good leg. there is a carry over effect that will help keep the bad one from losing as much strength. one legged squats against a wall.. heel raises.. hamstring curls with a yoga ball.. just stay balanced with something so you don't fall down hehe

Wjca it'll be a bit to get back if you get surgery (acl i assume?) but if you had messed it up before then you'll probably be better off after PT is all done and would probably get a brace for sport activities. luckily now they are super light and really well made.

hopefully you are up and around quicker then i was.. (In a cast for 3 months)
