Hubby and I will be arriving LAAAAATE Wednesday night in Vegas and staying til the following Tuesday. Having camped across the US and never hitting a full campground, we didn't think we would have a problem finding a place in RR. We're seeing now that this was a false assumption as the campground is currently totally full! I spoke with someone at the park who said to call on Monday and see if there were spots because if there were, it's unlikely that anyone would come before we got there Wednesday and odds are we might have a good chance of getting a spot. She also said though, because we'd be there so late (like maybe 2am) the campground host wouldn't be able to help us out if it was full, and maybe find a group that would be willing to share their site. So I'm wondering if anyone is out there already and wouldn't mind sharing a site with my hubby and I? We'd cover all the camp fees. We do have a big tent and I don't know how big the site is...but we also have (if there is room) a super sweet 15'x15' shade structure for hanging out under which holds up well in wind and rain should those arise. Also bringing a camp stove and cooking supplies, and I can demonstrate a really cool trick for keeping your food super cold and not soggy from the ice! Dates are really late March 19th through March 25th - though if you were leaving before then it's fine, we'll help you break camp too. It's our one year anniversary and since we went camping for 100 days across the US on our honeymoon it was a big deal for us to go camping in RR and not just stay at a hotel. So if you've got some space and don't mind a couple of folks near ya...let me know! Peace, Dove

I won't be there. I'm just amazed that after your thread about trad racks, and the ensuing drama, that no one has spotted your username and chimed in. Maybe they're all climbing....naaahhh. Best of luck and be careful out there and have fun toting around your 15x15 shade structure. I guess I'll have to start a thread now-"HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR FOOD DRY IN A COOLER?

Just there, and yes, the campground is silly full. Sleep in the ol car in either a walmart lot or a casino lot the night you arrive in town and then show up at the campground early the next morning and grab the first site that opens up. I was amazed at how far one would have to drive to find some free camping around there. Usually I never pay to camp. FYI - Walmart has a company policy that allows, even encourages, RVers and others to park in the lots of most stores over night. The casinos don't, but their lot's are secure and if you don't make a show about bedding down for the night, nobody will know. John

Hey dovelette- really, good luck. Just get a room. Commando-ing in Vegas is no fun. And imagine telling your girlfriends and co workers that you spent your anniversary in a Walmart parking lot.

My advice is to show up and ask people if they will share with you, I have spent a few weeks at that campsite and usualy people are fairly approachable and willing to share a site. Just look for the poor dirtbags that are in a site by themselves.

Especially the dirtbags, and especially if you offer to pay for the site for the night. Only problem is if you are showing up really late and no one is still up to ask if you can share sites. If you don't get any takers here, just show up, ask around, check the bullitin board, and have a back up plan. This might mean sleeping in your car, but I'm sure you'll be able to track some people down the next day to share a site with if you have to.
