Going to be in Hawaii from April 16-23, looking for someone to show or point me to some good areas to boulder. If any one has gear for sport, can bring harness. Looking to keep light.

I was just there in Feb (in Honolulu then on Kawai'i). My wife looked for some climing on the intrawebs and found pretty much nada. When I got there, I talked to a couple folks including one guy who climbed when he was in residency on the mainland. He said that while there are cliffs everywhere (check out Weimia Canyon) good rock is very hard to come by. There was one web site that suggested that there were bolts on a very limited crag on Oahu, but that it was nothing worth doing unless you lived there.

Mai Tai. That's pretty much all you need to know.

I have personally uploaded information on many routes in Hawaii right here on this website. And if you do a search in Google for the words "rock climb Hawaii" the first site that pops up has tons of info on climbing in Hawaii. If someone does fail to find any info about the climbing here they clearly did not try hard. I think he was talking about worthwhile climbing.... To the OP: Dont climb with this guy, he is an accident waiting to happen!

While not "world class" I'd say climbing in Hawaii is worthwhile. Just about every area is scenic (beaches, ocean cliffs, etc) and the climbing, I feel, is pretty decent. There quite a bit of stuff on Oahu but the rest of the islands are lacking any developed climbing areas.

That if I wanted to climb choss, I could do that here in MD. Now if I wanted a good Mai Tai, beautiful weather, more bikini than I could shake a stick at, (wow, now that is not a good turn of phrase), snorklig, surfing, etc... No offence intended, but if I had 12 days to spend on the Islands, only 6 on Oahu, I would not spend them scrambling around looking for 3 bolts and a shut.

My friend and I were planning on going to Oahu from Aug 21-31. I was hoping to get some climbing in. I'm mostly a sport climber, but I haven't decided if I should bring all my gear. Any suggestions? Mvpdang
