I keep noticing that we're all posting on this board, and making comments about not having other women to climb with (I've only climbed with moey, for example), and we LIVE WITHIN AN HOUR AND A HALF OF EACH OTHER!
Now, I realize it's a bit late in the season to do anything outdoors (except ice in a bit, which I don't know how to do), but I think we should consider a get-together at some area gym on a less-crowded night, then go out and have some beer (or dessert, or both), and do some yappin'.
Anyone else up for this? I, for one, would love to have a girls' club once in a while.

i climb regularly at oasis.... it's pretty much always crowded on evenings.... what about the gyms not in the GTA?

The one time I was at Gravity it was "good-busy", where there were a lot of people there, but not so many you had to line up for routes.
I've never been to the Grotto, but I've heard good things about it.
I usually climb at Higher Ground, which is usually pretty empty on weeknight evenings.

I regularly climb at the Grotto. Wednesday night is bouldering night, which is usually busy - but fun if you're more interested in bouldering than roped climbing. It'll be tough to get on a rope Wed. nights though, since many of the problems traverse the climbed lines. Other nights tend not to be busy (except Sat. and Sun. afternoons).
In terms of an ego-boosting climbing night, I wouldn't suggest the Grotto. The routes are graded rediculously hard and the holds tend to be quite polished.
That said, I'm in for an all female climbing night!

Well....let's pick a date and go for it!
Let's get some votes for where to go.
My schedule's pretty whacked, but if we pick a date a few weeks from now, I can make sure I have the night off. I usually climb at Higher Ground on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, so any of those nights would be good for me, as I can "temporarily relocate".

If we aren't climbing at the Grotto, I'd say Wednesday nights are out for me, 'cause I can't give up my boulder night - I admit, I'm addicted and I need help. Any other night would suit me, so long as I have some notice. Anyone have a suggestion for a gym? Are there no other TO and area women who climb?

so where is Higher Ground? if that's relatively empty on weeknights that's what i'd love to try. Rock Oasis and JRH are both packed on weeknights, especially from 7:30pm -9:30.
any ideas? i'm also in the middle of a move, but i wouldn't mind meet up and flailing at a new gym....

Okay, Higher Ground. Let's say, next Wednesday (November 13) around 7, 7:30? If this isn't a good day, everyone yell, and we'll figure out a better one.
Higher Ground is really easy to get to. Take the 401 to Kitchener.
Take the Highway 8/Kitchener exit.
Take the Sportsworld Drive exit (first exit on .
Turn right.
Pull into the driveway at Sportsworld.
When you go into Sportsworld, go through the video arcade (I'm not kidding) to the back and left. If you need to pee, you've gotta do it in the arcade, but there is a changing room at HG. It's the standard $12 to climb.

I normally wouldn't sacrifice my bouldering night at the Grotto (Wed) - but Nov 13th I have to be at a conference all day and night. My vote would be for Thursday or Fri (14-15). Any objections?

thursday works better for me that week.
i um... *blush* forgot about being plunked into graduated licensing when i moved to ontario and my license is about to expire. i have my drivers test on weds. if i fail it, i will be a big big loser and i will not have a license......

Sorry girls... its not looking good right now. If I do somehow manage to be available, i would def. like to carpool with anyone heading out from the GTA-- I'm in Mississauga, or Oakville depending on what time you are leaving at...
